As silly as Johnny English
might seems - Mr. Bean is always Mr. Bean which in this case is making you
laugh even at the silliest and sadness jokes or actions he does. If there is a
comedian who never seems to age and mature, it must be
Rowan Atkinson. So Mr. Bean as James Bond, well definitely a parody and cross
between - James Bond, Mr. Bean and Austin Powers. However Rowan has a very
different type of humor than Austin Powers who seems to more appeal to
teenagers than Rowan who have appeal from 5 years old to pensioners. As
mindless as Johnny English is, it is a movie that will put you in a good mood.
The story is actually quite interesting and seeing Rowan trying to do stunts
and making a fool out of himself is exhilarating. In this movie, Rowan does an
excellent job as James Bond parody and the casting of him and his performance
is just pitch perfect. Rising and newcomer Aussie singer
Natalie Imbruglia was not only pretty but also does a very good job as well as
having a good chemistry with Rowan. Ben Miller as Mr. Bean's sidekick
does a great job here as a sidekick that is smarter than Bean. If there is an
aspect of the film that I personally dislike is the casting of
John Malkovich as lead villain who basically was not menacing and has zero
charisma. Johnny English must be one of this year best movie for a family
outing, as it not only has enough stunts, car chase and James Bond like
missions to keep adults glued to their sits but also the never stopping laughs
to keep a family laughing even as they leave the theatre.
