Hollywood Gossips Review:

Although many considered this movie as not living up to its expectations, to me personally the movie Best of the Best has 4-5 very emotional appeal to the audiences. The first coming in at the start and gradually building up to another one and then to an ultimate emotional finale. In terms of action, fans of that genre will think this a bad movie, however, this is actually more of a drama with the character Jacky Cheung playing a SDU and his father played by Ng Man Tat as ex-cop are both very well developed and the relationship of father and son here is very interesting. The pre-superstar - Sammi Cheng in her first movie shows real promise as Jacky's girlfriend and daughter of gang leader. Direct Herman Yau here does a terrific job by turning an average script written by himself into an emotional movie and although not many bullets fired, it is very much like the effect of 2002's Internal Affairs. The overall result is excellent and leaving the viewers thinking about the reality of the world.
