He then turns to AMIDALA.

Load it into the throne room's main
holoprojector.
The GOVERNOR turns off the device and returns it to his
pocket.

The GOVERNOR walks to the throne and taps a series of buttons
in its arm.
A static blue image of PALPATINE stands in the center of the
room.

side. They are busy having a conversation.
OBI-WAN and AMIDALA walk on screen.

Atkinson's ship jumps into Coruscant orbit.
The CAMERA follows the ship as it falls closer to the city
planet.
EXT. SENATE BUILDING - WIDE SHOT
Traffic zips by the Senate building in the bright morning
hours of the Coruscant day.
INT. SENATE BUILDING - MEETING CHAMBER - MEDIUM SHOT -
PALPATINE
PALPATINE stands in the central box, speaking to the SENATE.
PALPATINE
Under my administration, the Galactic
Republic has entered into a new era of
productivity. I will not let you down
now.
CLOSE UP - PALPATINE
PALPATINE
I need more funds forwarded to the
construction of the Victory class
battleship fleet and the TIE series
starfighter.
PALPATINE pauses, his eyes focusing in on someone.

OBI-WAN KENOBI and AMIDALA enter into the empty Naboo box.

WIDE SHOT - SENATORS
The CAMERA pans across several senate boxes. We see the
SENATORS. No longer are they the native race of the
represented world, but now they are almost all exclusively
human. They are either very old or very young, installed
personally by PALPATINE. They all wear tight form-fitting
blue and grey uniforms.
MEDIUM SHOT - OBI-WAN AND AMIDALA
AMIDALA stands there with her mouth open.
OBI-WAN comes up behind her.
CLOSE UP - OBI-WAN KENOBI AND AMIDALA
OBI-WAN whispers into her ear.
OBI-WAN
Do you want to go?
AMIDALA nods and whispers back.
AMIDALA
Yeah.
WIDE SHOT - NABOO BOX

The CAMERA is positioned looking out, allowing us to see the
skyline in the background.
OBI-WAN and AMIDALA stand on a balcony outside the Senate
building.
It is now evening. They sky is a dark deep blue.
Traffic is lighter.
The stars are dimmed by the light of the surrounding
buildings and passing vehicles.
CLOSE UP - OBI-WAN KENOBI AND AMIDALA
OBI-WAN and AMIDALA look at each other, both smiling timid
smiles.
A knock sounds off screen.
OBI-WAN turns toward it.
MEDIUM SHOT - PALPATINE
GRAND CHANCELLOR PALPATINE enters.
He speaks in a soft voice.

I've been waiting for a moment where I

PALPATINE steps between AMIDALA and OBI-WAN.

He exits.

AMIDALA looks up into OBI-WAN, her eyes bright and

PALPATINE goes down a narrow hallway.
Suddenly, one of his aides shouts to him.

PALPATINE turns around.
A low level aide named TARKIN hurries on screen.
TARKIN is a thin man, aspiring to lead the Galactic Republic
someday. He wears a baggy blue suit.
MEDIUM SHOT - TARKIN
TARKIN
Sir! Homeguard satellites have picked up
a Neimoidian battleship entering
Coruscant system space.
CLOSE UP - PALPATINE
PALPATINE ponders this for a moment. He gave no orders for a
Neimoidian advance.
MEDIUM SHOT - PALPATINE AND TARKIN
TARKIN
Curiously, the ship didn't jump here.
Rather, it is slowly approaching with
conventional sublight engines.
PALPATINE
To keep its energy signatures low and
sneak in.
TARKIN nods.
PALPATINE takes a moment to reply.
PALPATINE
What the closest ship to its position?
TARKIN
The prototype battleship Victory.
CLOSE UP - PALPATINE
PALPATINE lowers his voice.
PALPATINE
Send orders to the Victory to destroy the
Neimoidian threat. Tell them not to send
or accept any messages.

ship... a clean kill.

ANTILLES
The ship's commanding officer, COMMODORE ANTILLES, sits in
the command chair. He is a tall man with fair black hair.
He is a soldier who likes to discover things for himself,
often second guessing orders.
COMMODORE ANTILLES leans against the side of his chair.
MEDIUM SHOT - COMM OFFICER
The COMM OFFICER listens to his ear piece.
He then turns to the COMMODORE.
COMM OFFICER
Sir, we're ordered to intercept and
engage a Neimoidian ship. We are to
maintain radio silence with them, neither
sending nor accepting communications.
MEDIUM SHOT - COMMODORE ANTILLES
COMMODORE ANTILLES
We are not to send or accept
transmissions with the vessel?
MEDIUM SHOT - COMM OFFICER

The COMMODORE thinks about the orders.

The COMMODORE swings his chair around, now facing the NAV
OFFICER.

EXT. SPACE - VICTORY
The Victory powers up its engines.
She is a large grey ship, the first of the Star Destroyer
line.
We can hear soft music just before we
CUT TO:
EXT. G PRIME - GARDEN - WIDE SHOT
The Garden stands in the black Coruscant night, illuminated
from below and within by blue, yellow, and white light.
TWO LARGE HOMID DROIDS buzz about the top of the citadel.
Soft music and conversation can be heard.
SOLDIERS, tiny, stand outside the glowing silver castle.
WIDE SHOT - OBI-WAN KENOBI AND AMIDALA
The CAMERA cranes down on OBI-WAN KENOBI and AMIDALA
NABERRIE, standing together amid a moderate crowd.
OBI-WAN and AMIDALA both look up at the magnificent silver
structure before them.
OBI-WAN is wearing the Republic dress uniform. It is a black
suit with gold trimming. His lightsabre is not at his side.
AMIDALA wears a little white dress, something she bought only
hours prior.
The two stand together, a stream of PEOPLE passing by. All
the MEN wear black dress uniforms identical to Obi-Wan's.
The WOMEN wear elaborate and extravagant long gowns.
CLOSE UP - OBI-WAN KENOBI AND AMIDALA
OBI-WAN and AMIDALA look toward each other, smiling.
MEDIUM SHOT - OBI-WAN KENOBI AND AMIDALA
Hand in hand, they walk toward the light.
CUT TO:
INT. GARDEN - FIRST FLOOR - MEDIUM SHOT - FLOWERS
We see a beautiful arrangement of exotic flowers, brought
from across the Republic.
The CAMERA passes long them, eventually showing us an open
area.
It is a beautiful golden lobby, COUPLES slowly heading across
it.
MEDIUM SHOT - OBI-WAN KENOBI AND AMIDALA
The CAMERA in front of them, OBI-WAN and AMIDALA slowly move
across the golden floor, advancing toward a large spiral
staircase.
CLOSE UP - OBI-WAN KENOBI
OBI-WAN looks down at AMIDALA.
CLOSE UP - AMIDALA
AMIDALA looks up at OBI-WAN.
MEDIUM SHOT - OBI-WAN KENOBI AND AMIDALA
The CAMERA behind them, OBI-WAN and AMIDALA continue to walk,
soon reaching the gold spiraling stairs.
INT. GARDEN - SPIRAL STAIRCASE
OBI-WAN and AMIDALA walk up the large spiral stairs, the
music growing louder as they do.
The CAMERA stays with them as they climb.
CLOSE UP - OBI-WAN KENOBI
OBI-WAN walks, his face forward.
He looks to AMIDALA and then back in front of him.
CLOSE UP - AMIDALA
AMIDALA walks, her face forward.
She looks to OBI-WAN and then turns forward again.
MEDIUM SHOT - OBI-WAN KENOBI AND AMIDALA
OBI-WAN and AMIDALA continue to climb the golden stairs,
other COUPLES also moving along with them.
CLOSE UP - OBI-WAN KENOBI AND AMIDALA
AMIDALA looks off, to the side of the stairs. She stops.
OBI-WAN stops with her. He turns to see what she sees.
Not a word is said.
INT. GARDEN - BALLROOM - WIDE SHOT
The CAMERA pulls out, revealing a vast ballroom. Its walls
are gold, its floor is golden marble. Arches and staircases
extend down to it from a balcony above. Illuminated pillars
reach up to the balcony. MUSICIANS play under the central
tier of the balcony. COUPLES dance in the vast dance floor.
The chamber is full of the Republic's elite and Palpatine's
closest supporters.
INT. GARDEN - SPIRAL STAIRCASE - CLOSE UP - AMIDALA
AMIDALA smiles.
MEDIUM SHOT - OBI-WAN AND AMIDALA
AMIDALA squeezes Obi-Wan's hand. She runs the rest of the
stairs, pulling OBI-WAN behind her.
The CAMERA stays with them.
INT. GARDEN - BALLROOM - BALCONY - MEDIUM SHOT - OBI-WAN
KENOBI AND AMIDALA
AMIDALA leads OBI-WAN off the stairs to the balcony
overlooking the ballroom.
She runs up to the side of it, leaning over.
CLOSE UP - AMIDALA
AMIDALA looks out over the ballroom, smiling.
WIDE SHOT - BALLROOM
We see the ballroom from the balcony, COUPLES dancing about
the vast floor. All the MEN are in black. The WOMEN are in
varied colorful costumes.
CLOSE UP - OBI-WAN KENOBI AND AMIDALA
AMIDALA turns to OBI-WAN.
AMIDALA
You promised.
OBI-WAN nods.
