About the Game Engine |
The graphics are presented in the standard low-res 320x200 256 color
mode which makes them appear somewhat 'blocky' since the characters are
very small on screen. This lack of detail is compensated somewhat by the
great variety in graphics and scenery. Tiberium fields glow and shimmer
mysteriously, trees burn when hit, towns are complete with civilians running
about, and of course when people are attacked the die appropriately. Grenades
and missiles blow you "up and away," fires causes a rather gruesome incineration,
etc.
Added to the addictive fun of the game's play are the animated cinematic
sequences. Employing the latest cutting-edge graphics techniques, Westwood
staff artists working on Tiberian Dawn combined the use of rendered and
digitized full-motion video. Set to a script written by professional screenwriters,
these animated sequences set the game play in an exciting story that places
you right in the middle of the action. |
