Each Town has Vendors that will sell armor, weapons, potions, keys, tomes, and will repair. To see if a NPC has something to sell, click on them, and look for Trade or Trade/Repair
In single and multiplayer, regeneration occurs as follows:
1) all players have left town
2) If not all players have left town, then any NPC who has not been (and isn't currently) trading with
any player for the previous four minutes
3) the Gamble stock is regenerated independently for each player after that player leaves town or
leaves the Gambler alone for 4 minutes.
Vendors will all pay the same price for an item. You do not have to wheel and deal to get mor gold.
Items accidently sold can be bought back at a higher price. Sometimes, however if you do not see it on any of the tabs or pages, you are out of luck.
Normal Difficulty
Act I: 5,000 Gold
Act II: 10,000 Gold
Act III: 15,000 Gold
Act IV: 20,000 Gold
Nightmare and Hell Difficulty:
Act I-IV: 25,000 Gold, the maximum gold a vendor will pay you for an item.
If you find you have reached the maximum amount of gold a vendor will pay for an item, but it has not
yet reached 25,000 gold, save the item until the next act or difficulty level to receive more gold for
your item.
The Vendor's Inventory is tied to the Act instead of the Difficulty Level. So Vendors in Act 1 of Nightmare Difficulty will have the same base items as the Vendors of Act 1 of Normal Difficulty. For the creation of items, the ilvl (number used for creating items) equals the Character Level of the shopper.
Magic Items on the Magic Tab are always Magical. For Character Levels 1-4, there is a 9% chance of an item being Low Quality, otherwise it will be normal. For Character Levels 5-9, the chance is 14% for Superior. For Chracter Level of 10 or above, the item has a 24% chance of being Superior, otherwise it will be normal.
For Staves/Wands/Scepters, you may find that +Skill bonuses are more readily available in Hell Difficulty.
Repairing Items
You may find you receive more money when selling if you first repair the item before selling it.
Be sure that the cost of repairing the item is not more than: (Maximum Gold the Vendor will pay -
Current Price Vendor will pay for the item)
Example, a piece of armor will now sell for 24,000 Gold. The Cost to repair the armor is 9,000 Gold.
Since 25,000 is the most a Vendor will pay for the item, do not repair the item, and sell the item to
the Vendor as is:
9,000 Gold (Repair Cost) > 25,000 Gold (Maximum Vendor will Pay) - 24,000 Gold (Current Price of
Item)
You may also wish to use the partial repair feature to raise the price of the item to 25,000 Gold (or the
maximum the Vendor will pay).
If the unrepaired sell value is <25,000 Gold, and Repair Value >25,000 Gold - Unrepaired sell value),
then use the partial repair feature. Drop all of your Gold on your character and in your stash. Pick up
enough Gold to repair the item to a cost of 25,000 Gold. That will be about half of the difference
between the maximum sell value and the current sell value (25,000-unrepaired sell value)/2
Warning: this may not be wise in public games where players might pick up your money and keep
it.
