"Went A Wandering Today"

cji
3/l7/99

Verse 1
********

With my little child's bubbling laughter
by my side smiling ever so bright
we went a wandering today into the park
feeling the varied warmth of the sunshine light.

Verse 2
********

It wasn't much just the two of us to go
for every now and then a parent and a child
needs to go a wandering without a reason,
otherwise somehow the child may grow up wild.

Verse 3
********

We stopped and watched the bumble bees
and even saw a red cardinal and a blue jay.
Then we picked some periwinkle's for home;
thus we spent our time like this most the day.

Verse 4
********

Now many would call this time wasted
or ask what possibly was gained by this?
Yet the happiness now in my child's eyes
overcame all of this talk knowing of such bliss.

Verse 5
********

So if you think you've ever done it all
and a little child comes to you;
do some wandering with this little one,
and all you think of will come true.

Verse 6
********

Now the day is at its end with a sunset,
we linger not wanting this memory to keep.
My child can't withhold the yawns of sleepiness;
a gentle kiss upon my cheek and soon is fast asleep.

Verse 7
*******

Now this day was spent not to please or care
about how other may have felt or known.
My child will always know how much it means
to go a wandering today just the two of us alone.
