Righteous living, combined with the grace of
the Atonement, will qualify
us to stand before Him with clean
hearts and clear consciences."

"Just Tell Me Where I Need to Start?"

C.J. Ingerson
2/23/99

Verse 1
********

My dear Heavenly Father today
I need to talk with thee above
for what it is I need to say
comes from deep within my love.

Verse 2
********

For it is my wish someday to stand
in front of thee with a clean heart
a clear conscience as the law commands
tell me not what to do but where to start.

Verse 3
********

The righteous living part is kinda hard
what with all the trash I see each day
I try really with prayer and all to guard
that which I see and hear or even say.

Verse 4
********

I understand the grace of the atonement.
how grateful I am too thee for obedience.
I've been taught each commandment.
I try real hard to understand acceptance.

Verse 5
********

Yet can it be so simple for salvation today;
with all screaming and the warning jeers?
To just live the law and obey what you say
knowing when I do I hear the angels cheers.

Verse 6
********

I guess the hardest part is talking with thee
when I kneel and can't think of what to say
yet each day and night you allow me to see
how thy angels spent their time with me today.

Verse 7
*******

I love thee Heavenly Father, this thou know;
will I someday really stand with a clean heart
and a clear conscience with thee be to show?
Please just tell me where I need to now start?
