"The Seventh Day"

cji
3/27/99

Verse 1
********

A day of physical rest
to spiritually renew
from least to the best
this day to pursue.

Verse 2
********

For some it is Sunday
yet others Saturday
some because of the day
others for work delay.

Verse 3
********

You see the work used
to be only nurses or such
now we've pleasure pursued
and required others as much.

Verse 4
********

The needs of the patients to care,
the policeman, fireman do work
all their time to have to share;
now expanded to a store clerk.

Verse 5
********

Always travelers needs be met
and we know of travel to do
also the military its duty set
and for maybe some others too.

Verse 6
********

Once spiritual batteries to renew
was the seventh day set aside
now we use it for other things to do
and no longer in a chapel to reside.

Verse 7
********

So when do you spiritually rest
and the blessings of life review
is this not part of your mortal test
or is this just for others to do?

Verse 8
********

I'm not casting any stones or arrows
just wondering aloud how we fair
who risk the rapids and narrows
forgetting to be thankful to be there.

Verse 9
********

Once heard a man say and its true,
"Never met an atheist in a foxhole."
Yet even those who claim this view
need to exercise in life some control.

Verse 10
********

Do you rest from the world today
and think of the Celestial and good?
Did you chance relax to read or play;
or am I getting closer than I should?

Verse 11
*******

It mattereth not of the seventh day
for it is what you are in your heart;
thus any day can be to rest you pray,
now lest we misunderstand I'll depart.
