"I Sought From the Storm"

C.J. Ingerson
1/20/99

Verse 1
********

It was beyond my ability to cope
I'd done all that I knew how to
I was really at the end of my rope
and I had no idea what else to do.

Verse 2
********

The snow was coming in the door
I couldn't stop it or control the cold
there was now ice forming on the floor
I was going to die before growing old.

Verse 3
********

Then a tender hand of warmth took mine
He bid me to come live with Him today
tears then came to my eyes to shine
I recognized not the man or what to say.

Verse 4
********

Refuge he offered me from the storm
wood on the fire and a rug on the floor
gently covering me with a blanket warm
he quietly laid and slept by the door.

Verse 5
********

In the morning when I arose from sleep
he was gone and it was warm and neat
food was in my cup-broads for me to keep
all he had was to make my life complete.

Verse 6
********

Refuge I sought from this storm today
when I thought only that I would but die
instead came this stranger to not stay
now here warm and alone, I simply cry.
