Verse 1

Many have never learned
of a sea anchor in a storm
and now seem unconcerned
even when the signs warn;
of coming bad weather days
for why should they take care
so they sit and make delays
while the weather remains fair.

Verse 2

But the old and wise know now
it is the time to justly prepare
and thus the knowledge of how
a sea anchor is made with care.
You see on a ship in a storm
if you are other than head on
to the wind no one will warn
as the waves will crash upon.

Verse 3
********
Your ship may take one or two
but surely by the third wave
it will be the deep six for you
as the ships hull will cave.
The water will do the rest
do not fear its has strength
to certainly pass this test
regardless of the ships length.

Verse 4

So every sailor knows to keep
the bow to the wind is the way
a sea anchor run true and deep
will help many survive today.
Yet why do some do so little
when the warnings are all about
they sit by the rails and whittle
not listen to the Master's shout.

Verse 5
********
For all it takes is little things to do
to prepare for this time of need
the first is prayer daily and true,
the second is the scriptures to read;
then third is to gather our family in
to teach and love and learn to obey
stretching to our neighbors within
learning to watch what we now say.

Verse 6
********
When we've done all these things
and our sea anchor is placed aft
we'll be prepared when the bell rings
holding fast to the Master's staff.
While we'll reach to many others
in this storm called human life
pleas to our sisters and brothers
will be ignored amid the daily strife.
