Carols from Around the World Performed by Ars Musica Antiqua
Ars Musica Antiqua is a group of instrumental and vocal soloists who perform music written before 1800 on authentic reproductions of instruments from the time period. Among the select instruments are recorders, cornemuse and crumhorn, violas da gamba (a 6-stringed cello-like instrument which is bowed underhand), and harpsichord. The Ars Musica Antiqua have a love for the music and a sound which will remind you of a Renaissance wedding or Medieval times. Their concerts are a musical journey through time--delightful, fresh and spirited.
This extraordinary group of musicians has appeared at the Newark Museum, Medieval celebrations, as well as performing "Music of Shakespeares England" at the Liberty State Park. They have made appearances at local colleges including the Tenth Anniversary of the Arts Council in the Morris area.
With a sound that incorporates sweet vocals, the earthy tones of horns and the harmony of strings, Ars Musica Antiqua creates a mood and a feeling that is unlike any other. You will be transported through time by their repertoire.
The Ars Musica Antiqua will be performing at the Watchung Arts Center on Sunday, December 13th at 4pm. With our intimate setting and wonderful acoustics you will be able to hear and see the wonderful instruments and vocals that will harmonize and lull.
At our December concerts you will have the opportunity to view the wonderful works of the New Arts Group (a group of professional artists who demonstrate new innovative visual arts.) Light refreshments will be served during the intermission and you will have a chance to speak to the musicians and see the instruments up close.
