The Traditional Bluegrass Music of Out of the Blue
This foot stomping, knee slapping evening is presented to you by the Watchung Arts Center on Saturday, November 7th at 8pm for the low ticket price of $10.
Out of the Blue plays original songs with arrangements and compositions which are unique. With a fine blend of over 60 years of experience and performance time, the band (together since 1989) brings a unique repertoire of talents together.
Vocalist, songwriter Earl Karlsen plays with a sense of rhythm honed over his 20 plus years in the business. Earl loves Stanley Brothers tunes and expresses that. Earl also hosts Bluegrass Express on Saturday mornings on WFDU 89.1.
Arnie Reisman is the banjo picking whiz. He has a driving sound and his arrangements, compositions and musicianship are distinctive. He has a traditional feel and has been strongly influenced by Flatt & Scruggs. Arnie has played with the NYC Bluegrass Champs for over two years, and along with Rita Reisman edits and publishes New Jersey Bluegrass Magazine.
Playing acoustic bassist, Rita Reisman has a solid, straightforward sound. She is a writer who has so much enthusiasm for Bluegrass its apparent whe she plays.
Don Sojka is an avid instrument collector and has found himself a Dobro with a sound and tone that let him best express his love for Bluegrass. Don has been playing for over 20 years and was a member of "One Way Ticket". He also sings lead and can add harmonies that are so fine.
If youre a Bluegrass lover, this is the band youll want to hear and the price is right. The Watchung Arts Center is located just a few minutes off Interstate 78 or Route 22.
