Karen Novy
writes impressionist songs. Hidden but honest, like she is whispering a
secret, something you have been waiting to hear. With her emotionally
delivered lyrics and heartfelt piano style, the songs will touch you somewhere
deep inside.
Many listeners have been entertained and moved by Karen s live solo performance as well as her intriguing band shows. She has traveled from Toronto to Atlanta, from New York to New Orleans, in cafes and bars and bookstores, engaging all types of audiences along the way. Her shows offer two vastly different experiences: solo piano and voice, which cut right to the heart of things, or the layered sounds and underlying groove of the band.
The band includes Andrew Hollander on accordion and mellotron, Thomas Spagnardi on electric bass, Neil Nunziato on drums, loops and percussion and Mike Daly on all guitars (pedal steel, lap steel, baritone, acoustic, mandocello). Karen plays piano and sings.
In the last two years, Karen Novy has been invited
to participate in the NXNE Music Festival in Toronto, the CMJ Music Festival in
New York City and the renowned Bitter End Songwriter s Circle. The band
has begun to work on the second record, incorporating straight-ahead pop tunes
along with subtle, moody ones.
Take a listen. Be moved. Open your ears, and open your heart. Come to the Watchung Arts Center on Saturday, April 28th at 8:00pm and see how you can absolutely feel what Karen Novy is singing about!
