A new and exciting band has burst onto the Traditional Music scene. Grovers Mill combines the sounds of classical country music and bluegrass with elements of swing, a touch of the blues, and a love of varied forms of string music. Boasting some of the top musicians in the Garden State, this formidable band has attracted accolades at numerous festivals and concerts. On Saturday, May 9 at 8pm, the Watchung Arts Center brings to you an evening you wont forget. Grovers Mills licks will make the gallery swing. Tickets are only $10. Grovers Mill consists of five extremely talented musicians who bring together a sound that is beyond Bluegrass. They have worked together over time to have a solid refreshing sound. With lots of strings and plenty of vocals youll be tapping your feet from start to finish.
Carol Beaugard is the lead vocalist and lead guitarist. Carol is also a noted Bluegrass DJ in the New York area on 89.1 The Sunrise Saloon." A former actress, singer and dancer working musicals and comedies Off-Broadway and theaters throughout the Northeast. "Carols guiding concepts shape the bands sound through her arrangements and song selections as well as her own compositions. Her vocals and harmonies are a treat, and so is her presence.
Gene Lowinger is a fiddler and a legendary figure in bluegrass who was a member of The Bluegrass Boys. Gene is the published author of three books: "Bluegrass Fiddle", Bluegrass Fiddle Styles", and "Jazz Violin" He is a true virtuoso on stringed instruments. While traveling the country Gene pursues his love of photojournalism.
Michael Madan has played expert acoustic music on mandolin, guitar and fiddle for over 20 years. His specialties include bluegrass, and old-time excursions into swing, Celtic and gypsy music. This is a performer who complements the bands mission.
Paul Unkert brings in the bottom with bass, dobro, banjo, and vocals and has played on albums with: Bluestock, Fog on the Oregon Coast and the Wright Brothers. Paul is an outstanding multi-instrumentalist with a passion for the banjo.
And finally, Jeff Bioletti adds that touch of western swing and delta with lead guitar, mandolin and vocals. Jeff has a fingerpick style that is unique and self-created. He often draws from rock influences and the emotional sounds of Delta and Country. With all these instruments and voices, you can imagine what a lively time this will be.
