Coming on December 5th another fabulous night of laughter and fun. The Watchung Arts Center brings comics directly from New York right to our centralized location. If you love to laugh and don’t want the hassle of parking and paying New York prices this show is for you. Our audience has been steadily growing since the onset of the Comedy Series partly because of our hilarious M.C., John McMenamin and partly because we have been able to bring in top notch comedians. One attendees said, "Each month I think you won’t find anyone funnier than last month, and each month I am laughing so hard that my cheeks hurt and my throat aches from so much laughing. How do you continue to get such great comics?"

We do it with John Mcmenamin who searches and cajoles artists into coming all the way out from New York to entertain the Watchung Community. John not only finds us great comics but also M.C.’s the show with new material every month. John’s own humor centers around just what happens day in and day out. He always brings us a refreshing look at the news and the trials and tribulations of everyday life.

SCOTT.GIF (172220 bytes)Our Headliner, Scott Blakeman was a regular warm-up comedian for the "Late Show with David Letterman". He was the co-host of the NBC Series "Funny People" and several political humor segments on NBC’s "Sunday Today". He is a seasoned comic with a long list of impressive performances including Comedy Central’s "Comics Only", a PBS Special "Why Bother Voting?" and "USA Live".

Blakeman is one of the few comics to use Jewish humor as an integral part of his act. He was featured in three sold-out performances at the Montreal Just for Laughs Festival. His recent performances for the United Jewish Appeal fund-raisers brought him the title, "The King of Comedy at Jewish singles events" by Jewish Weekly. We couldn’t even mention all Blakeman has done as a performer because he’s just done too much.

For the past twelve years, Blakeman has taught Stand-UP Comedy Workshop (which was featured on ABC-TV-PBS) at The New School in New York. Receiving the national acclaim as the straight actor who played the part of a gay man in the history making Ikea television commercial. This ad was placed as one of the 50 best commercials of all time by Entertainment Weekly Magazine.

Our featured comic is also from New York City and frequents Caroline’s, Improv and places all over the tri-state area.

If that’s not enough to entice you to the Watchung Arts Center on Saturday, December 5th at 8pm, okay. Also in December we will be featuring tin our upstairs gallery the New Art Group, a consortium of professional artists who bring you "the Cutting Edge" of today’s visual arts. But if you like to laugh and enjoy some clean good humor, join us. This is an evening to remember. You’ll find yourself chuckling as those words come back to you days after the performance.
