Show Runs September 5th to
September 30th, 1999 Reception: Sunday, September 12th 1-4pm |
The opening reception for Hsu Dan will be on Sunday, September 12, from
1-4pm. This is a great opportunity to speak with the artist and discuss his work. Hsu Dan
creates colorful landscape paintings which have a eastern feel and an almost abstract
quality. The movement in his color blends are true precision. During his life of exploring
both traditional and modern art, he has successfully blended Eastern and Western
approaches into his own unique style. He has held many exhibitions both in the U.S. and
overseas, including the Art Museum of Jiangsu in China, Zimmerli Art Museum, Loma Linda University of California, Sugarland Art Center
of Texas and many more. He has appeared on several television interviews as well.
Hsu Dan was born in China and graduated from the National Art Institute and Tong Ji University. He pursued graduate studies at Harbin University. Hsu taught over thirty years at Southeast University in Nanjing China. In early 1985, he came to the U.S. and has resided here ever since.
In searching for the spirit and its emotional essence of scenery, Hsu Dan has traveled extensively in the U.S., Europe and Southeast Asia. His paintings can be found in many private collections, universities and museums, including the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, China.
The Watchung Arts Center is pleased to present such a pretigious artist to our gallery. We hope that you will find the time to see his work during our gallery hours Mondays-Saturdays from 1-4pm. We are sure you will be impressed with the beauty of Hsu Dans kaleidoscopic works.
