The Watchung Arts Center is pleased to bring to the public these wonderfully colorful glimpses of nature. Patricia Rosenblad uses paints and paper to create a variety of food objects stressing their natural color and form. The show runs from and our gallery is open from 1-4pm Monday-Saturdays. The opening reception for this show is Sunday, June 6, 1999 from 1-4pm. The public is welcome to come, meet the artist, enjoy light refreshments and enjoy the art.
Patricia Rosenblad lives and works in New Jersey, however her solo shows and exhibition include the whole tri-state area. She is a drawing teacher at the Suzanne Patterson Center in Princeton, a graduate of School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and a student of Hans Hofmann. Her Solo and Group exhibitions have brought her many prestigious awards.
Patricias work, "A Feast the Eyes" and "Food" demonstrate her strength in contrasting colors and expressive form. Her still lifes (a traditional subject) incorporate her contempory perception. Her work explores the "sensuous beauty of natural forms- pomegranates, melons, apples, peppers, eggplants, etc. through a synthesis of lush color and expressive marks. These objects, often floating in ambiguous, abstract backgrounds, serve as metaphors for the complex associations of interpretation, as well as creating unusual spatial relationships."
A verbal explanation just doesnt give you the sense that you will get surrounded by these wonderful paintings. So come see for yourself what how beautiful nature's food can be.
