A very "froggy" fight!
This is a territorial dispute between two males (Rana c. melanota)! This little "rough and tumble" venture in itself is usually quite harmless..... but the sudden late-night burst of activity may well attract the attention of a nearby Raccoon, which may pause long enough to snatch a quick frog dinner! "What goes around comes around"!
This N. Leopard frog is shown here eating a lizard (the head, tail, foot, and dewlap are visible in its mouth), and this frog in turn was eaten by a Red-Shouldered hawk!
