Shedding the skin

Here you will see a frog shedding its skin!

THE LAST FEW BITES! This one is only a few bites away from completing the molting process! Normally it takes anywhere from a few minutes to a half-hour for them to complete the process, and during this time they may be quite helpless.


As they grow, their skin is not "renewed" such as that of a bird or mammal, and like ALL reptiles, or in this case, amphibians, they must shed their skin as they outgrow it. Imagine wearing the same set of clothes for about a month, and at the end of the month eating your clothes as you remove them - dirt and all, and underneath there's a clean set of clothes already waiting!
