About
the Elven Bard
The
Harper is available for Concerts, or as a Strolling Musician.
He
performs in medieval costume, using the "Ancient Style"
wire-strung Celtic Harp and the nylon-strung "Minstrel Harp".
Both are reproductions of the instruments that were played by
Bards and Traveling Musicians of the Middle Ages.
By
giving life to Ancient Music in the spirit of fifteenth century
minstrels, the Elven Bard attempts to reach back in time and tradition
to the Harps of the Eldar. Although the Elves of Tolkien's world
may be the closest to those of his past life memories, the Bard's
vision of Elves takes in many other resources. It hasnt just sprung
up overnight, because of the LOTR Movie. This elf realm encompases
Norse Legend as well as modern science fiction. Harpers and Elves
have appeared in many other places including the Harper Hall of
Pern by Anne McCaffrey, The Bard by Morgan Llewellyn, Elf Song
by Elaine Cunningham, the motion picture Dungeons and Dragons
and the X-Files
"Little Green Men" episode.
As
an Elven Bard, Sellador has spent years researching ancient Celtic
Music. A Bard's duty is to preserve the Music of the past, and
create new Music for the future. Seven Secrets, Dreaming of Butterflys,
Elf's Lament, Evening in the Enchanted Glade and Two Maidens Dancing
are original compositions. Other pieces are ancient Folk melodies
that are Pubic Domain, all arrangements are by Sellador the Harper.
His first CD "Something the Elf Said" was released in
December of
1999
and features the wire-strung"Ancient"
Celtic Harp.
His Latest CD "The Elven Bard" was recorded using a
nylon-strung
"Minstrel Harp", and the wire-strung "Ancient" Celtic
Harp.
He has also released a Guided Meditation Tape entitled "Healing
Harp Meditations".
