Commencement Meeting: 13 September 2000

I. Introduction on the 2000-2001 Chapter officers

II. Introduction of the 2000-2001 Faculty Sponsors

III. Introduction and Description of the Newly Registered History Interest Club
   A. Rob Plunkett, president of the History Club, speaks in regards to the organization's recent foundation and aspirations for the 2000-2001 interim.

IV. Speaking Event: Career Options and Postgraduate Opportunities
   A. To be held within the New Engineering Building, Room 100, on Wednesday, 27 September, at approimately 7 p.m.
   B. To present Professor Lombardi and Professor Curta as guest lecturers on the topic of career options and postgraduate opportunities for students of history and the humanities.

V. Further Topics for Discussion
   A. The Phi Alpha Web Page is up and running.
   B. Cartificates for those members inducted during the 2000 Spring semester have arrived and will be distributed to those who are in attendance.
   C. Recruitment of new members, for both Phi Alpha Theta and the History Club, will begin shortly. We will discuss means by which new members may be recruited.
   D. To the best of our knowledge, no university has been selected as host to this year's statewide conference. Perhaps the University of Florida would be inclined to assume this role.
 


First officers meeting of 2000 - 2001. Time and Venue: 5:00 P.M. within the J. Wayne Reitz Union.

Items discusssed within the agenda:

    1. Lecture given by Professors Lombardi and Curta regarding career 
        opportunities, graduate school options, and the role of Phi Alpha Theta 
        membership for  students of history and the humanities.
        A. Advertisement: the Alligator, flyers on campus.
        B. Place to be held: Large auditorium, perhaps Carlton or Norman Hall.

    2. Advertisement of Phi Alpha Theta within the College of Libral Arts and 
        Sciences
        A. Advertise within the History and Anthropology departments.
        B. Flyers can be distributed to the history faculty in order to be 
            passed out within the classroom.

    3. The hosting of speaker Dr. Lowen: Lies.
        A. Financial necessity and monetary acquisition.
        B. Where the event might be held and with the assistance of what 
             other educational disciplines (for example, the Education College).
