Foot Notes to stories
EI:Back to the Future's Biff had uttered the
same "Hello?" Line as Matt did. Oh yes I did that deliberately since
they are both portrayed by Tom Wilson. There was also a bit of streetcar
in there EI:I learned that there was an original Star Trek
with Kirk being split in two, but what was on my mind was the Buffy
episode where Xander was split in two. EI:Gundam Wing is the influence of Houston, mostly used
to show that he is an obsessed little psycho GI:Matt repeated Demona's line from City of Stone, when
he saw what Thailog's had done to her. EI:Buffy's Faith and Slayers Lina
Inverse was the inspiration for Mars. EI:The Buffy episode "Hush" inspired me to do
the small dialogue story. There was a little Lady and the Tramp
and The Lion King Influences in the story. EI:The Elephant Man was the influence for Jon's
"I'm not a demon!" outburst. GI:"Temptation" came into play when Matt and Brooklyn
wondered who helped them. "The Reckoning" With Fang asking Brentwood
how many clones does it take to screw in a light bulb. EI:Aliens With Turquesa's Ripley speech and Predator
With the way the serpents see. GI:"Avalon part 3" Turquesa echo's Kathrine's "nobody
harms my eggs" EI:Buffy The Vampire Slayer Inspired the costume
spell. Even Hallie pointed it out. Creation of Rayne. Yeah yeah I know Lex always ends up with a
girl he met on the web weather she is human or garg. I did want to be a
bit different with her. Most of the female gargs that Lex ends up with
are short web wings like him. I wanted her design to be different
We have a lot of dragonflies and as I sat outside one day one landed on
me and gave me Rayne's design. She has wings that could either be
described as Pixie winged or Dragonfly winged. Her horns are long and
slender ending in a little ball like an insect antenna. Her skin color
being orange is from all the oranges around here and her hair was
inspired by the sea foam. Yeah she is a bit taller than him, but there
a lot of men who like women who are a bit taller than them. EI:The Princess Bride had a big hand here. Jon
does look a little like an animated Wesley and the "As you Wish" both
Jon and Lorrie said to each other. Buffy Came up again with
Wolf asking about Jon growling. Based on an episode where Giles got
turned into a demon. Spike asked him the same question. GI:"Highnoon" Macbeth's response to Demona was said in
reverse by Wolf to Jon. EI:The Sopranos inspired the name of Little
Mutt. and the Tailspin episode where Molly kept kicking the bad
guys in the shins inspired Tina's spirit. The Sorority will be mentioned now and then. EI: Obviously a lot of Clash of the Titans
influence here. GI: Canmore's greeting to Goliath was a bit of a
reflection to his words near the end of "The Journey" As for Jason, it appears the operation was a success. Rounding out the Avalon hatchlings. Greg W made mention the
names of four of them and I created five others, but of course we all
know that there was more. Two of the hatchlings I didn't create but
just named. The son of the grayish brown male with the metal chest
armor and white horns that was easily seen in City of Stone, and the
blue female that was standing behind Arthur in Avalon pt three. She
kind of stood out and when I saw her I was like "She looks like a
Theresa." I thought I was being mean to Elisa. I think I'm a little more
mean to Fang; causing him to be separated from Winter while she is
pregnant with his child, and having him not being able to swim. EI: I love both Buffy and Angel. The concept of the
Slayer is similar to the Hunter's. "There will always be a Slayer" Also
to show a bit more of Jon's protective nature coming through. I realized I was a bad girl. I haven't been writing about
Macbeth at all. I had to rectify that. There was also a glimpse to the World tour of Mercutio, Fang,
and Cecilia ((She and the church were named after the Patron Saint of
music.)) There will be tragedy coming up folks, I promise you that. EI:besides the obvious King Lear references there was a
scene inspired by The Ring Where Gale as Tilly lurches from the
hotel was similar to that one really freaky scene in the movie. The food that Fang ate was based on this one booth my family
used to visit every time we would go to the fair. Sadly at the past two
years it wasn't there. EI:The quartet was modeled after the The Amazoness
Quartet from Sailormoon SuperS, not the most popular series,
but the villains were some of the best in a over the top way. Demona bitchy yet helpful. Jon lives away from the castle, he
doesn't understand all his abilities or behavior. I guess I did the
impossible, I got people to cheer him on. Ah Reggie Reggie, what a little creep you are. Some wished
that I killed him, ah but I have such plans for that boy. GI:From both City of Stone and Hunter's moon when both
Demona and Jon were in shock of their actions. I originally was going to leave Lorrie behind at the mansion,
but then my muse decided to get twisted again. Lorrie is Irish American
and Angelica is Irish. Lorrie=Angelica's descendant and she ends up
married to the man her great great grandmother had cursed! EI:I almost had Xavier say "I'll be seeing you." A
famous line from The Prisoner, but I scrapped it. EI: The X-Files episode "Eve" and the movie The
Ring for giving me the inspiration for a creepy little girl. There are not many mob stories where the gang is in the south.
I thought about putting it in Orlando but that is too hot and muggy for
Brode. I thought about my characters and since Lorrie is originally
from
Atlanta I had him go there. Since the story is set in Atlanta and the time frame for
Seneca was shortly before Thanksgiving I had the story set after
Thanksgiving at the Mulligan's house hold. What a family: nuturing
Moira, proud Barry, Lorrie's brothers, and Uncle Norman. I'm sure we
all have an Uncle Norman in our lives. He provided a sense of irony. He
dislikes Jon because Jon is from Scotland while Norman himself is of
Scottish descent. Jon hates gargoyles despite the fact that he turns
into one at night. With a setting and a bad guy I found the museum for Brode to
steal in and since the museum specialized in artifacts from Africa,
asia, and South America I had them steal a jewel from Peru. Jon was sort of going to be a hero in this one. He accepts
what he is. I wanted him to rely on his gargoyle abilities a little
more. I wanted him to drop on all fours and lope. It makes him a bit
uneasy, but he does it. Jon couldn't do it alone, he was going to need help and I did
have three characters that were on a world tour. I felt they needed a
bigger reason to be in Atlanta than to just help Jon. I thought of the
crystal, looked up on Inca gods and goddesses and found Mama Quilla the
moon goddess. Bingo! I got the apex for my story. This resulted in the
death of a cannon character but I made a promise to myself to ease up
on the sugar fluff and get down right bitchy. Forming the team and picking a location. I have heard in
several discussions and read a few fics of where there HQ was going to
be located. Several places came up including Australia, America and
Japan. To me Japan felt just right. I could see Robyn flying in from
the states, And Dingo and a disguised Matrix could fly in from
Australia. Yama would have a bit of a problem leaving Japan. After
studying several different maps I placed the gang at Akita City in
Akita Japan, Not to far where I'd picture Ishimura would be located. I
had also remembered that Vinnie took on a job in Japan. Getting Fang there would have been no problem. He's on the
skiff and if the skiff made it to Ishimura once then it could happen
again. The bit of the kidnapping was used a red herring for the
Avalon trio. They thought they just had to find Akima and her
kidnappers. Vahril was created by another creativity demon hatching in my
head. I felt that there should have been another female team mate and
since they had an interesting plethora: Gargoyle, Mutate, Ex stunt
actor in a cyber suit, skilled assassin, and artificial Intelligence
that
an alien would be a unique and interesting team mate. EI Lots of Anime influences here. Particularly the Land
Lady Dingo encountered being similar to the one in Me My Strawberry
Eggs And Akima Watanabe being named after The man behind great
anime such as Cowboy Bebop I haven't mentioned Lexington's pain about Rayne leaving until
now. Poor guy, but Rayne was also miserable. I tried to add a bit of humor with Colin Canmore preferring a
gift box ribbon to his toys( Babies are like that), Charlie pelting
Brooklyn with his carrots, Hippolyta's clumsy mate(My fiancé,
Revel,
called him "Vinniegoyle"), Joe Bluestone's Ukulele, and Jerry's Snoopy
sign.(Which I do have somewhere in my house) I had some loose ends I wanted to tie up. Like ending Mercutio
and Cecila's journey and spun out a few more hanging threads: Robyn's
business proposal, and Lex's determination to get Rayne back. I may do a Dark ages fic about Wyvern Fortress, Milady,
Hippolyta and The Marauders someday. Yammer:My main priority in this fic was having Robyn
leave so she could join Bad Guys and have Rayne return. What started
out to be small fic grew into a large one Rayne was no the only one to return to the clan. So was
Coldstone and Coldfire and Robyn was not the only one to Part. The same
went for Mrs. Wellington. aka Candy's mother, thus ending another plot
line. Some thought from BILI Candy was a bit loose. Next to her
sister she's a nun. I was originally going for a bit snobby and a bit
slutty. Here is what happened. She jumped out of my scull, kicked me
out of my chair and wrote herself. Some picture her as a teenage Margot
Yale if Margot was the high school slut. Matt finally get's his first Illuminati secret. Too bad it's
worthless. Unless Matt decided to place a bid on the office pool at the
precinct. EI The winged people of Brazil were based on the group
of humans in Alan Dean Foster's novel Mid-Flinx. The hero lands on a
strange and dangerous planet where the humans that had settled there
evolved to where their feet were chimp like Yammer:The wedding of Goliath and Elisa was coming up
and in my previous fic I did mention that it would have been a triple
wedding with three couples tying the knot Having three couples means that I was able to come up with
three themes. I did mention that I love themes right. I also worked in
the rings, the ring bearer, flower girl (and their steed.) Figuring out
who would be the groomsmen for Goliath and Bentwood was pretty
easy. Owen was a bit tricky. Eleanor's bridesmaids were easy also. With
Kitty I figured she would have Fox, Christine and a few of her other
coworkers from her days at Pink Diamond. With Elisa it would be family
members and a female cops. Aunt Rebecca, Diane's youngest sister was patterned after my
fiancé's mother. The 13 years separating her and Diane was
inspired by
my own Mother and and Uncle. I didn't know if anyone had actually noticed but this was not
intentional. The name of Rev Lovejoys first name as Tim was
intentional. There are lot of people sharing the same name as fictional
characters. Christine Fitzgerald was created back in "Repercussions"
and when I was creating Elisa's aunt she told me her name was
Rebecca...I did not mean for their to actually be a Tim, Christine and
Becca in the same story..not in my original plans anywise. EI The title of the story was the same name as a Buffy
episode (Some of my other stories also share the name with a Buffy
titles.) Yammer:The follow up to Something Blue with the
Honeymoons of the three couples all had three different locations. I
didn't want Goliath and Elisa to share Xanadu with Eleanor and
Brentwood. Who wouldn't want to spend a wee weekend in a decorated air
ship over the ocean? A little more insight into Owen. He hates A Midsummer's
Night's Dream for the way they portrayed Puck and I thought it
would be funny if Owen would shift to Puck while in the middle of
constimating his marriage. There is a little more insight into my interests. I love
brownies, and good old fashion candy store style fudge. I also like
jellied fruits. I enjoy the game of Air hockey and one of my favorite
bands of all time is Styx. I want to have "Sail Away" play at my own
wedding. Yammer:I wrote most of this story before I went to the
2003 Gathering and after going to Coney Island I knew where Cecilia and
Mercutio were going to be heading. Mercutio learned the difference
between gargoyle stomachs and human stomachs after riding the cyclone.
Poor Cecilia, she was having a hard time adapting to the modern world.
I just had to find something that she would like. The Quarrymen are officially back, but there policies have
changed. Yammer:I felt there had to be some repercussions from
the clan killing the vampires back in Terrors, and I wanted to have
another vampire related story. Usually in vampire sequels the vengeance
seeking vampire is a relative of one of the vampires killed in the
first one. That is why Balthazaar is in town. I didn't want him to be
alone. I gave him a mate in the form of the buxom Colette, and a loyal
bug eating servant in the form of Horatio. I needed the vamps to attack the clan but where? I realized
the story takes place a year after Teddy Maza was born. They become the
ultimate party crashers. I had to figure out how they would get to the
Labyrinth and having one of their fledglings be a former Labyrinth
dweller made it work. Relatives tend to get fussy when it comes to a child's first
birthday even though the baby won't be able to remember it. Sometimes
it's the mother, or in this case Teddy's grandmother who wanted her
grandson to have the perfect birthday even if it means her being a
grandmother outshines Maggie as the mother. Maggie has always been
considered a wimp. She's smart and she can act, but she is considered
to be weak. Here I gave her a bit of a back bone and made her stand up
to Diane. GI: At the end of the story where Colette refereed to
Trax as an useful idiot is just like the part in The Reckoning when
Demona refereed to Fang as an idiot who may be useful. Yammer:At the end of Hybrid Village Jon swore that he
would use his gargoyle from to hunt down the clan and boy does he
adopted to his night form well. I've been wanting to do a confrontation
between Jon and Matt for a while and I finally had my chance. I think I shocked a lot of people by having Brooklyn's ear
blown off, but it wasn't permanent. Yammer:It's been a while since I wrote about Thailog's
clan. They have been moving a lot and I didn't want to just have them
in the U.S Don't know where the idea for Winter and Ocelot to become
lovers came from, it just popped into my head one day. The chupacabras as the protectors instead if the villain. I
like to think outside the box and nearly every story with a chupacabra
in it has them portrayed as the bad guy. Some might say the same for
gargoyles. They have teeth only suited for plants and use their claws
and pick like spurs to cut off branches and slouch of bark. The bad guys did come off as heroes since they were the heroes
of the story, but their heroic deeds are so they can cause damage to
Goliath's clan. Yammer: In the story of Hybrid village Xavier said he
had sent word to the New Olympians. It was about time I had done that. My other reasoning why I centered the story around them was
because there are not many stories featuring these guys. I felt racial
tension would still be a good conflict for them. The racism grows in
the town, fueled by two New Olympians who were not only disgusted with
humans but also with the fae since they believed they usurped the
human worshippers from them. I introduced one of the members of the New Olympian clan in
the form of Meager. I needed some greek names and the name of one of the furies
would fit a female gargoyle. I had a gargoyle but I needed some New
Olympians. Taurus was tracking down Proteus and Talos went to
Washington. That left Helios, Kiron, and Ekidna. I decided to leave
Kiron behind to watch over security and I'm not too fond of Ekidna,
that left Helios and with him went Dryad the deer like centaur who
would provide the racial tension along with Helios. The other three
came easily to mind. I chose a few other creatures from Greek
Mythology: A harpy, satyr and a cupid. A little bit of Foreshadowing of "Morgana's Diary" With the
cameo by Arthur, Griff, and Tabby. Yammer:With several children in my verse growing up I
knew the subject of school would appear. Considering where Alex's
background I believe public school would not be the best. I pondered
home schooling but knew he was going to need social interaction . This
narrowed down to private school. I dug deep into the back of my mind for memories of prek and
kindergarten for the class. Most people were thrown for a loop when Pomfour turned out to
be Titania, except for Dennis. He told me Pomfour was similar to the
French word for apple oven and avalon is famous for apples. That wasn't
intentional, I guess it was just a coincidence. Yammer: I nearly cried at the end of the story as I
wrote it. It wasn't just the touching moment of Brendan's dead brother
but because how he died and how the last female shade died. One thing I
despise more than anything is people who abuse others weather its their
spouses, or their pets or their children. Duval makes his debut here as well as some of the locked
treasure. They have quite a menagerie with a sasquatch, chupacabra and
a mysterious dog like beasts. They also have Angelica's son. Dylan. EI The idea of children's spirits who hate their
parents
came from an episode of Inuyasha. Yammer: I felt it was time for Elisa to deliver her
child, but I didn't want it to only focus only on the night of the
actual birth. I included the last few days of Elisa's pregnancy and the
first few months of the twin's lives. Elisa, Goliath and Jones were the only ones who knew it would
be twins. They wanted to let that part be a surprise for the clan. Not
only did she give birth to twins, but twins born on two different days.
Giving them names was not too hard. Elisa's aunt was a big influence on
her life and inspired her to name her daughter after her. Goliath would
pick a Scottish name, and their nicknames just popped into my head. At
this early point in their lives the twins would turn to stone during
the day. Elisa and Matt are first separated and Matt is paired off with
a new partner, Paul Gamble. Yammer: I took a break from the main timeline and wrote
about the clan in the near future. The quarrymen are still around
although their outfits are changed, there are more weregoyles and the
City is a bit more gargoyle friendly. I originally started the story with Rowan having an argument
with his father but I felt that got in the way with the main story
line.
It got changed to Angela and Goliath's discussion and the scene with
Rowan and Elisa were cut. I wanted to do a Romeo and Juliet style romance for a while.
Colin Canmore in the role of Romeo and Demona and Matt's future
daughter as Juliet. The "coming out" party was something else I wanted to do.
Donny needed to tell his family he's gay and Lorrie and Jon wanted to
share Jon's secret with Lorrie's family. The clan's children indicate a few hints for some future
stories: Lysander is a hint to Resurrection, Ronnie Burnet to Kitty
being pregnant in Clan Verses Clan. Tai himself is still a bit of a
mystery to me. EI Donny becoming a father was inspired by the 1970's
dramedy Soap The gay character, Jody (played by Billy Crystal)
became a father after only one night with a woman. Yammer:The clan made good on their word and reached out
to befriend some humans. They also needed a night off from saving the
city, cops get days and nights off. Finding human friends were not too
hard. Hudson would be with Robbins. Lex wanted to befriend Darin
McCormick's buddies back in Holidays, Rayne was friends with Tina
Chavez, and Broadway became friends with Cookie in Return of the Hunt.
Brooklyn wanted to befriend the Jogger. Those that had yet to make
friends and the weregoyles were sent out on patrols. Father and child night was first mentioned here when Frank
tried to calm down Jam and Elisa. Rosiara Sanchez(One of the teenage heroes Broadway and Hudson
read about in "High Noon") makes an appearance and may end up
befriending Cecilia and Mercutio. Art and Lois sort of have a cameo here. I wanted to show that
not everyone will end up being on the gargoyle's side. Yammer: Arthur, Griff, and Rory had made a few other
cameos and Merlin as Gray Kiteson was only mentioned. I wanted to do a
story where they were the main focus. I had the heroes in the form of Arthur, Merlin/Gray, Griff and
Rory, and a task at the same time. The spear Arthur was searching for
in "Clash of the Titans" was never found, they needed a better source
of information like a map or a book, and since Gray was a rock star the
setting would be in a concert stage. The villains were not too hard.
Mystic would be the guy who would be hungry for a magical item and he
would have Rusty with him. Morrey was the last piece to the story. She was the innocent
who came between Arthur and Mystic and with a story about King Arthur
you got to have a Morgana, since she is dead in my universe she is
represented by the form of her descendant. GI The line Merlin gave Arthur about judging him
unfairly was similar to what Demona told Angela in "The Reckoning." Yammer:I felt sorry for the cold duo. They were stuck
in immortal machines for eternity. In a way they were trapped in a form
of hell. Their only goal was to find and destroy Coldsteel. I wanted to
give them new bodies, but not by magic alone. Demona and Xanatos made such a great team during the time the
show was on. The team is reunited by them creating the clone bodies for
the Cold Duo. Xanatos provided the science with the scientists and Dr.
Callahan and Demona and Alex provided the magic. I didn't want to make it too easy for them and I wanted to
bring in Sevarius. The Lexington model Steel Clan robots make their debut. Yammer: One thing about the show I was curious about
was when the romance between Tom and Katherine began. I was also
curious
on how the three humans planned on raising the hatchlings and wondered
what it was like for them during the hatching. I felt Tom would have been a bit too young to venture out on
the skiff after the first century the clan had been sleeping. Magus
learned about Avalon sending him to where he was needed by venturing
out into the world and because the world around them is beginning to
change he would bring back a few new "Discoveries". When writing this
story I did some research on when certain things were invented and when
such items such as beer, glass and chess came to the UK I felt Merlin would have fit as the mysterious old guy and
like he did with Arthur he played the role of Advisor. Yammer: Back in 1997 I had this strange idea for a
novel. A megalomaniac scientist wanted to control a planet by creating
a race of nasty creatures in the forms or rats, birds, dogs, humanoids
and something big. The monsters were too powerful, they destroyed their
creator and wreaked havoc not only on the one planet but by stowing
away on ships and spread through out the galaxy. Years later officials
created an organization that trained special hunters to go out and
destroy the beasts. During the training the hunters were given special
wild cat like cubs with reptile skin to bond with. The cat creatures
were part of the hunter teams and provided to be an excellent companion
This story was a peek into that old idea. Instead of on
megalomaniac villain we have a whole organization. Instead of a hunter
team we have the Alliance and the Redemption Squad I remembered a few old cartoons where the heroes are oblivious
to something that was trying to hunt them down and funny things
happened
to the monster. Hawk and his troops were the monster and instead of
something funny they end up getting picked off by one of the dark
creature. I once had a cat named Mckinley who a week before christmas of
1994 left the house and never returned. I named the Jaggar in the fic
after him. EI Many inspirations were for this story. Isle Imbri
was
named after the famous nightmare from Xanth. Like Imbrium, Nubium is a
sea on the moon and Nubium=Nubular, the island setting of the first Jurassic
Park. The laboratory where the Redemption Squad took up shelter is
a little like the one lab from the second JP movie. The creature
hunting down the troops in the jungle was heavily inspired by Predator
and Hawk was based on the drill sergeant in Full Metal Jacket Yammer: I haven't written anything dirty in a while and
it has been a real long time since I wrote about Matt and Demona. I
wanted their scene on the top of the Brooklyn Bridge to be nice and
relaxing. I have been wondering how open gargoyles were when they made
love and figured they don't have any qualms about being out in the open
in front of others and humans. Demona still wants to hunt humans but not in the way she used
too. The quarrymen provide to be such perfect targets. Jon and Goliath have a little fun with their wives and the
scene with Jon and the KKK was inspired by Castaway's speech in "The
Journey" Yammer: The first time I ever wrote fan fiction on the
net was for two different Xfiles stories. I wanted to try to channel
that original vibe I felt in this story with a mystery and a skeptic
and a believer trying to solve the case, and like the Xfiles a shadowy
government conspiracy is not only watching the detectives but also
behind it. And that wasn't a coincidence where the first victim was
killed Having the lot be behind a Camelot store just seemed to fit. I originally wanted Gray's band mates to help out in someway
so
Arthur would knight them, but that seemed over the top. I also went the
back route where Gray tried to keep them in the dark and that didn't
work so I compromised. EI Merlin's shout about being back and a bloody rebel
is another Buffy the Vampire Slayer Yammer: This is the story that had been slowly brewing
in the back of my head. The battle was coming but I had to find the way
to make it happen. I already had it in my head Gawain would be close to
killing Goliath when he learns the truth. The injuries the clan sustained as well as the death blows to
Thailog's clan happened as I wrote it. I was in my writing trance when
the demises came to me. Since most of the members of the clan live long
enough to have hatchlings I knew I had to keep them alive, but they
were going to suffer. I felt Thailog would have been programmed with more than just
Xanatos's Business skills, but he would also have Xanatos's ambitions,
ability to scheme, and martial arts skills. Like Xanatos Thailog
desires for immortality and always has a back up plan. EI Felicia's line about naming the ship came from
Hagrid of Harry Potter naming the strange monsters he loves. Yammer: After the last story there was going be some
repercussions. The clan is still healing and some of their injuries
needed more than one night, not because the bones of the gargoyles were
still broken but because the limbs were atrophied. There was also going
to be some guilt felt by some of the members who took a life for the
very first time, or nearly killed their hero like Gawain The regular Joes of New York would be wondering what happened
at the castle, and I wanted to explore that side of the city. I decided to try to do something a lil different and plant
something in and see if that will come up later. Yammer: This was the second of a the post clan war
triptych. Gawain is gone and seeking atonement for his part in the
battle. The Redemption squad are trying to seek him out. It made sense
for them to meet and for Gawain to join them. They needed an advisory or a conflict for them to work
together to solve. I had already used chupacabra's and I didn't want to
make up another monster like with the pod creator. I went through my
knowledge of N. American monsters and remembered the classic story of
the Jersey Devil. Bingo! There is also an Avalon New Jersey, a most
fitting setting. I brought Mars Bluestone and Cazador back. Mars seems the type
to just go camping anywhere. Yammer: This was the third of a triptych. Most of
Thailog's clan is either dead or captured, Goliath's clan had healed
and Gawain found a place for him to belong. All that was left was to
find the remainders of Thailog's clan. This was the first story that took place after 911. I did try
an attempt at a 911 story but I just couldn't make it work. I knew Reggie would be the type to save his own backside than
try to save the others. He would have left Felicia behind if she wasn't
home. Ursa and Chi Lin are captured, the egg is safe with the clan,
and Spring is with her father and his new clan. Yammer: The small thing I planted in Cleanup grew into
this story.The so called friend Jason invited in was not a member of
the fae, but a Cubus, the same creature that escaped from the
Illuminate holding ground in "Children Of The Night." I played around
with the various stories of incubi and succubi I wanted the change in Jason, both physically and mentally to
be gradual, such as the bumps in the hair the hair dresser discovers
would eventual become his horns in demon form. Like in Terrors Jon let his hatred be put aside to work with
the clan. This time to save his brother and sister-in-law. Things are brewing on Imbri. The pod creatures plus the Cubus
and whelp. Something will come of this. Yammer: This story was actually posted on valentines
day and I was glad I ahd it finished in time. I wanted to write a
romantic story for the clan for a while. My Fiancé, Revel, gave
me bath
salts for a romantic gift once and that transcended into Goliath's gift
to Elisa. Mercutio's gift was inspired by two things. The first was
from an article in a magazine about couples who tried to conquer the
odds and the second was from an art book class I took. Another Jersey setting but this was old and not new and
another
Romeo and Juliet story but not just between two species, but two sides
of the law. Trying to finger who would be possessed by who wasn't too hard
and it was fun to have Othello being possessed. GI: Othello, possessed by Wallace mimicked the same
line
he said in Reawakening EI: The tragedy ending in a kiss was influenced by an
episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer When Buffy and Angelus were
both possessed by the ghosts of a teacher and a student, and yes the
pirates were inspired by Pirates of the Caribbean Yammer: I decided to get away from the main clan for a
story that didn't involve Arthur. I wanted to know what happened to Tea
and Fara Maku since "Mark of the Panther" The curse was still with Tea
and would be passed on to anyone she strikes. I figured after six years
the curse would have been passed onto someone. I'm sure many people have been wondering what African
gargoyles would look like. I'm sure the first images that came to mind
would be those like the London clan, but I wanted them to be more
unique. There are some animal like gargoyles in the African clan, but
there are also gargoyles like Goliath's and Kai's plus with a few
traits such as horns, tails, spots and stripes. The idea of the Sanctuary sounded like it would be the idea
place for were panthers and gargoyles to work together. I wanted the
clan to split because of something horrifying I came up with several
ideas before the skins came into place. Chak's panther coat was based on my own black cat. When the
light hits her fur just right she gets a few copper highlights. Yammer: When I began this story and and was writing it
taking place in April of 2002 I checked back on my older stories. Kitty
had discovered she was pregnant back in August. She was near due by
April and I hadn't done a baby shower story for any of the other
mothers. Some of the images of the party are always going to stick with
me such as most of the females wearing dealy boppers and the males
smoking cigars and most of all Owen getting drunk. I had also ben trying to work in Halycon's death and funeral
into my previous stories but this is the one that fit. It was a tragic
part but I did have a bit of fun coming up with how Renard came into
his wealth and his various family members remembering him. EI: This story was partially influenced by "Wasteland"
by T.S. Eliot. There were little nods to the poem placed through out
the story. Yammer: This was so far the tackiest thing I wrote and
I knew it raised several questions, most importantly the why: I think
we have all wondered what it would be like to be the opposite gender.
Ovid probably wondered when he wrote The metamorphosis If magic is not done correctly there would always be
consequences. I wanted to show these consequences with Matt and Demona
when they tried the spell. It not only caught Xanatos and Fox in the
wake but they were stuck in that form until Matt read from the book Yammer: I knew I had a few gargoyles in Egypt after I
finished Poachers and I had to find away to get them to return. I
didn't want to create any new villains and remembered I hadn't played
with Brode and his gang for a while and I still had those vampires.
Brode still wants money to set up his empire and the vampires could
hire the gang to fly them out to a temple and ask them to be body
guards. To me it would not seem right to have the gargoyles actually
be living at the dig site. I needed an archeological team and not many
people uses Dr Duane and Dr. Morwood-Smythe. Renepep, the priestess and her warrior lover were all made up.
I felt the Warrior would show again when I was in the middle of the
story because of the lengths he went through to rescue the woman he
loves, and the curse had to come true. The warrior woke up because the
staff was removed. Yammer: This was a story I wanted to do for a while but
I wanted to make it right and have it set in either August or
September. There had to be heat and not just as a metaphor and it
really gets humid in August I had a lot of fun creating places and positions for the
couples. Lex and Rayne in the clock tower and at Macbeths, Mercutio and
Cecilia on the pool table and in Xanatos's bed room. The season not
only affected the gargoyle and weregoyle couples but also those who are
not attached such as Candy and Malibu and Jon and Lorrie Other few scenes I had fun with were the ones on Avalon. I
just let loose with creating a perfect fantasy setting for a six year
old and the sirens. Yammer: after going through my old stories I remembered
one little angle that had yet been cleared up, and that was the
location of Arthur's spear. It was first mentioned in "Something Blue"
and was first sought for in "Clash of the Titans". I don't know if I
may get another London clan and Arthur idea and I wanted to clear that
little bit up. I dove deeper into both the Illuminati and the Alliance. I
figured the Illumnati would hire servants who either could see no evil,
hear no evil or speak no evil. The alliance leader has some beef with
the Illumnati and I dove into the why. They both had connections to
Arthur, while I haven't gone in to who Duval is Lance Dulac is the
descendant to Lancelot and the organization was started by an ancestor
of Dulac. EI: The whole shadow government movement and people
working around behind the people's backs was heavily influenced by The
X-Files Yammer: After the dark tone of Spears I wanted to write
something a little lighter, a little bit sweet and a little more
innocent. I decided to do another Halloween story focusing on the
clan's children, but instead of the children facing against something
dark I gave them a little fun in the form of a Halloween party. It looks like Alex is getting brattier by the second.
Hopefully I have him more well behaved in the next few stories, or I
could continue the brattiness. I guess I'll wait and see. Once again I had fun with the costumes. Nearly everyone in the
fandom thinks Demona would make a good Mystique. It just fit with
Charlie as Night crawler. Some of the activities for the children were
from the memories of the Preschool, school and church parties I went
to. The haunted house was exactly like the one I participated in for a
club at Valencia Community College, and yes we did scare several
children. This story was divided into three parts...mostly dealing with
a few things that had to have been taken care of. The first part
centering on Logan, Scherezade and the Turkish/Irish clan had to be
done. I was putting it off for way too long. As for the question of
weather Mystic will or will not be back. I believe he will. Like the
vampires he has made a couple of appearances The second part was a bit more sweetness with the children of
Wyvern. Alex still being a brat towards Macy and Charlie standing
up for her. Ronnie is already discovering how to use his claws. We'll
see what kind of person he will grow up to be. The third part just flowed form my fingertips onto the
keyboard. I went into Vahril's past. When creating your own alien
species you can create their culture, their holidays and their religion
if they have any. When creating the gargoyle council fic I wanted to give them a
main subject to discuss, not just "Hey this is my clan and we live here
and we protect this." The Network idea was inspired by many of the
forums and message boards I visit. People would post about traveling to
a certain town where another member of that community and lived. The weregoyle clan of Peru and the St. Augustine clans were
mentioned in the past, he they have made their physicle(or as physical
as much as words can show) debut. I had cannon clans, clans only
mentioned, and original clans described. The Chines and Jordan clans
were only known through Chi Lin and Momar. I also put in the Pukhan
clan. Some of the descriptions of the characters were based on the
Eastern influences. The Pukhan clan's near human descriptions were
based on cover art of Korean comic books. The Chinese clan was based on
Eastern Mythology's four animal like gods. One of the spin offs from gargoyles I wish was made was
Timedancer. A series centered around one of my favorite characters:
Brooklyn. I have read other fics where it was done well such as TGS and
I would have made the attempt except for one thing: It would have been
unfair to Marle. This is why I went to the next generation, their daughter. I
have wondered from the fics if Brooklyn knew the incantation would have
been able to return sooner. I believe The Gate would not have stopped
until it came into Goliath's hands. I have thought about my version of the Avalon clan. The males
outnumber the females and would have five mate less males. A few may
have to go on a quest to find a mate. This is why Raphale was mentioned
as staying behind with a romantic interest. Now I have to find someone
for Rinaldo and I'm set. Another fic in in the future, set a few months after
Forbidden love. I love playing around with couples, matching people
off. I have Matt and Demona's daughter and Jon and Lorrie's son and now
Charlie Bluestone-Destine and Rebecca Maza. Jon's speech and apology just flowed. It came out in
seconds and was perfect. Jon wanted to end the hunt for a while, but he
felt he was in too deep. He just needed some common sense knocked into
him. Hudson's death and funeral. I wanted Hudson to die as a
hero or doing something heroically and his death along with Jon's
injury
would be the final blow for Jon to finally give up the hunt. I used
Greg Weisman's footnotes on how to to do a Wind ceremony for his
funeral. EI: There was a long list. As already mentioned the
kidnapping of the Labyrinth hatchlings was inspired by 101
Dalmatians Jon and Roscoes hiding in the secret compartment in the
cockpit was inspired by Star Wars Jon's wanting to fight
Goliath or Demona until the death: either his or theirs was from Angel
With Faith and Angel. I had already established Dracon having a kid back in "School
Days" Concerning Stevie's Age and Cannon facts the time of his
concievement was during the time Tony was in prison. Good thing for
Conjectional visits. I also introduced Tony's exwife. I wanted her to
be the exwife form hell, nagging and bitchy. In his ramble for "Golem", Greg Weisman explained Brode was
more of like Xanatos than Dracon. To me that meant all the thievery was
used for money to start up his business. After failing in New York and
Atlanta Brod tried a minor legitimate business as a shuttle pilot and
earned enough money to start a business This fic was mainly a transition piece to move away from
Dracon's gang to a new threat aka Gosford's and his thugs and I wanted
to take both Tony and Brode into new directions This was original going to be a slash story, but I couldn't
get it to work right on paper. Even before I wrote this I felt Marle's mother would not
accept
her daughter's egg. She never accepted her daughter to be weregoyle to
being with and never was keen on her being a part of P.I.T
How far back did her stubbornness grow. I had a sense she was divorced
and raised her two children on her
own in the city. In a way she is a stubborn child who refused to give
up. It has to be her way, or now way. She is a bit of a contrast to Jon
Canmore who is slowly growing more and more understanding. I had to make up for the fact Lou Duchamp had never made an
appearance. Marle did have a biological
father. A few mentions of past visits that happened between stories
felt right Please don't ask where Seneca and Sevarius spending father's
day at a Bed and Breakfast came form. It just appeared, and
as for having Sevarius dreading the idea of being in a poofy and frilly
room struck me as hilarious. Fox's dreams of the interlocking prison with one prison inside
another: The idea came from one
of those little dolls from Russia where one fit inside the other.
Something wicked is coming. The presence of Goblins in
"Harvest Moon" is the first inkling. Yammer: I have written
a few other stories about the avalon clan in the past. Stone by Day was
the first glimpse of a few of Angela's rookery siblings, I mentioned a
few more in Deception and their first years of their lives were
written in Hatching Days. My main objective of the story was on
Rinaldo. In "She Who Walks through time" Rinaldo was introduced as a
gargoyle who not only had some magic knowledge but also owned an
magical ring. I wanted to focus on how he got the ring and he
became interested in magic. With the addition of Michael and Lionel and
Aurora I was able to develop small conflict of the story. I did not want the hatchlings to stumble upon the treasures
and just take them. I wanted them to be able to earn them. Michael is
very stubborn and determined. He did not want to give up on the ax
until he thought Aurora was in danger. Her safety over the ax was why
the weapon dislodged itself. Lionels's test was of greed. Instead of
the
more expensive chalices he chose the smallest one made of pewter.
Rinaldo had to resist the temptation of power. Mab was fun to write. After the first words exited her mouth
the dialogue just seemed to flow. I made her tiny because of how she
was described in Romeo and Juliet,
and it turned out Greg Wiesman saw her as tiny as well. Another
great reason to go to the Gathering. Yammer: The idea of this story hatched from the fact
that summer 2003 was approaching in my universe and I was looking
forward to my vacation.
I wanted to tie up one little loose end with the St. Augustine Clan.
They were close to accepting the idea of the Network and I wanted to
seal the deal for them. It also gave me the chance to use Andrea
Whitney again. It didn't seem faire for Charlie to not to be able to go on a
vacation. If the Xanatos's can manage to bring Lex to Florida then
Dominique and Matt could think of something and Mars did offer the use
of her beach house back in "Gang Related." This story was very different form the others I have written
in the way it was typed. Instead of going straight form the start to
the end I jumped back and forth between scenes.
There were those I wanted to write a few more than others. I may use
that method again for another story in the future. Yammer: Once again I had several story elements
floating around the noggin. They included: Rayne getting back at Hyena,
The scenes with Goliath and Elisa on their date. The Pack joining the
Quarrymen and getting new upgrades, and the scene with Macbeth wearing
the hunter's mask again
and talking with Jon. This started out as a filler piece trying to tie a few loose
ends. I wanted to write a scene
with Jon visiting Macbeth on Campus, and I wanted to write a scene with
Jon teaching Colin how to glide. I also wanted to work in
a scene where the clan would have an inkling of what was coming. I have
also listed the names of some of the fae who will be forming
the dark coalition, along with Mab, the goblins and a fae who will
betray Avalon. The Mad card game was created back in the 80's and it was a
source of fun for the family until we lost it. Melusine was just a trip to create. I looked up undines on the
web and they are spirits of women
who drowned themselves. EI: A Sixth Sense scene in the living room when the
temperature dropped. Back in "Gang Related" Elisa mentioned one of the reason's her
father became a cop was because of a childhood's friend unsolved
murder.
This fic pinpoints the friend's murder, using Beth to relate what
happened to Amanda from various points of view
and what Crime solving in 2004 could do what they couldn't back in
1960. I got a little motivated after watching shows like Crossing
Jordan and CSI.
The key point of evidence was going to be centered on a school
ring with the murder's fingerprints. I quickly scratched that out and
replaced it
with blood, and the whole exit wounds and murder getting their evidence
on the shoe came into place. I also thought of the boyfriend being the
murderer, but
that had become too cliché.
Elisa and I have a few tastes in music. I can't believe that
Milkshake song became a hit.
I had a blast writing the party on Avalon scene. It was
another that just simply came to life.
EI: The idea for Oberon's beach side throne came from
the Ester Friesner trilogy. In Gnome Man's Land the Elfin King
chose a Cadilac for a throne.

GI: Gargoyle influences. what canon episodes make its way
into the stories
Yammer:On Mother's day the family went out to eat at a
restaurant. I being an idiot, ordered the scallops. Never eat
clams/oysters/scallops/mussles in the months without an R! Boy did I
pay for it the next night. I spent it in the bathroom. The next day I
tried to catch up on the sleep I missed and had a strange dream where a
Steel Clan robot changed Matt Bluestone into a gargoyle and he spent
the night with Demona. My muse was born! I had no idea this was going
to start something. I worked it into a story where Demona is searching
for remaining members of the Quarrymen and decided to create a clan for
her using a chemical that changed normal humans into a creatures like
her.
Yammer:I couldn't leave off with Demona just learning she
was pregnant. The first part was Matt learning about the fact that he
is the father of her child, and of course he had to tell the clan. I
could picture Goliath not being too happy about Matt getting his ex
pregnant. The second had a lot of time pass through it enough for
Demona and Matt to get close and for her to deliver her egg
Yammer:In originality this was going to be a two parter
where Matt's gargoyle half actually turns to stone, but I scrapped it.
I wasn't too sure how a mating ceremony would go, but I can pretty much
picture either the clan leader or a clan elder to perform it, and
having demona reform? I wasn't originally going for that. It just
seamed
to flow that way.
Yammer:I was just scribbling up some notes on what to
follow Split with and I wrote a scene with Matt and Delilah. After
watching "The Reckoning" I was wondering how funny it would be if
Delilah made up her own hybrid. Since she was made from Elisa and
Demona I figured that the one she created would be made of Matt and
Goliath. Samson makes his debut later in "Breakout" Call me sappy, but
I thought it would make sense for the clones to refer to the clan as
their fathers, and Delilah calling Talon 'Uncle Derek.' With Demona
spending more time at Wyvern I had to destroy her mansion, of course
there had to be a reason. Thus Thailog is back. I knew he was going to
need help to carry out his plans and he needed someone human. Viola
Jeremy Houston was born. My writing style changed a bit at the end of
this story in the last chapter. I wanted to give some plausibility to
Demona's change of heart. I also wanted to do a creation tale about her
tiara as well.
Yammer:Can't keep Matt's family out of the loop forever.
All I knew from Ask Greg Was that Matt came from a Jewish
background. I gave him a big family. Parents, sisters, a brother in
law, a future brother in law, a niece and a cousin. Mars Bluestone, Oh
I love her. She is my antisue, as in a total opposite of me. I had a
blast doing the research on Jewish and Catholic weddings as well as
writing the wedding of Matt and Demona.
Yammer: Writing a story with little dialog that was my own
personal challenge. Having Matt and Demona act like beasts was my own
twisted invention. Matt nearly loosing control, and the shock that he
had taken a human life. I'll come out and tell you that I love reading
about urban legends and trying to create one was a little fun.
Yammer:Wow I actually wrote a non NC-17 fic! All kidding
aside there did seem to be a lot going on in here. I wanted to get
Houston and Thailog's out. I figured if I was going to break out
Thailog
from the Labyrinth I was going to get Fang as well. With those three
together I was thinking of forming the anti clan and brought back
Coldsteel. Samson who I started to create by Delilah having to get a
blood sample from Matt back in MP Made his debut. His name had to be
Samson nothing else would fit. I guess I am a bit of a hopeless
romantic. So many love interests debuted here: Felicia for Houston,
Samson for Delilah, Natalie(unnamed at the time) for Claw, Kitty
Masterson for Owen, Rayne was introduced, and Lorrie for Castaway. Oh
having him fall on the beaker that contains the weregoyle serum. I was
thinking what is the worst that could happen to him and it struck me.
Having him change into the very creature that he despises. Kind of
makes since since Demona changes into a human during the day and Jon
was going down her path at the end of "Hunter's Moon pt 3"
This is also the begging of Mary Anne's "Bitchy" streak.
Yammer:I kittysued two of my cats in here. Velvet inspired
Encaje's design and Spooky her mother instincts. Mars Bluestone is
back. We get to see a bit more of her insight. She always struck me as
the take charge "Want, Take, Have" type person." I wanted to do a story
where she is sort of a heroine. After seeing "The Green" I felt there
has to be more to the Mayan clan. I summarized Jade and Turquesa's
Avalon trip which gave an explanation to why Encase and George was
there. We have seen gargoyles raised by humans I wanted to see how a
human raised by gargoyles would fare. Since I had Ocelot, one of the
three other survivors leave home, I knew she was going to meet up with
Thailog.
Night Angel was something I developed in my mind back in 1997. Alicia
and Donnie were part of it.
Yammer:Kitty is back, and Natalie get's named. I had to
give Maria's daughter a name. Creating everyone's costume was a blast
and I think Xanatos dressed as Darth Vader is just Perfect. I gotta
thing for themes. The Wizard of Oz theme and the clones with Dr Seuss.
Hallie was a blast to write, and such a mouth on her. Area 51 does
exist in my universe. Kitty has been there and back.
Yammer:Back to the Smut! Natalie was close to giving birth
back on Halloween. Half the story revolved around Pamela being born and
the other half was well sex. Those girls who deflowered the clones will
show up again, and don't worry about Burbank. He will learn about love.
Poor Samson, Delilah wanted to make sure he some morals imprinted into
him but she must have added a bit too much Good Book Knowledge and he
can't get into religious jokes.
Yammer:Sit back folks cause this one is a doozy. I love my
state despite the bugs, humidity, and the fact that some people down
here don't know how to vote. Florida is the home of the oldest European
settlement in the country. What if the early Spanish settlers brought
some gargoyles with them and they formed a clan in St. Augustine? and
what if that clan got too big and it branched off the start of another
clan, thus the Central Florida Clan.
The hotel the Xanatos's stayed at does exist in Downtown Orlando
The restaurants that Fox and David went to are based on Bahama Breeze
and La Cocoa Vin
Upside down building is Wonder Works located at the Pointe*((That's how
it's spelled))
CF clan's design: Many members were based on Florida creatures, Like
Delphi's dolphin tail, and Rayne's father looking like an alligator.
Daunte and Peggy. Daunte is based on the UCF Knight mascot and Peggy on
the UCF Pegasus symbol. Daunte is named after Daunte Culpepper who went
to UCF.
The Blue boy. When my mother took night classes My father would be
"Shampoo Man" and helped me with bath time. Then he carried me to bed
and told me stories about the Little Blue Boy
Yammer:Did Halloween, now I had to do Thanksgiving. I
decided to divide it up into three segments. I brought back Mars and El
Cazador and her parents aka Matt's Uncle and Aunt, her brother and room
mate. Jam and Frank, yeah despite how much of an ass Frank is I was
starting to feel sorry for him. Demona is right Cazador is Spanish for
The Hunter. :::Gives her English-Spanish Dictionary a good pat:::
Pamela is named, while she looks mostly human she will have some feline
features. Her eye color and nose shape and her hair color. When she
gets older she will develop some more mutate features..
Lorrie gets her last name, accent, and heritage. Jason and Robyn had
their first glimpse of Jon's gargoyle form. I *just* had to get rid of
that mustache. While I didn't have too much of a problem with it when
he is human as a gargoyle it looked stupid in my head.
Yammer: This was my favorite one to write, now its a tie
between "Confrontations and Season of the Breeder's Moon."
PrometheoTech and Leahs are mentioned again and I introduced two of her
sons. The Pack, oh boy. Well Leahs thought it would be a good idea to
hire them and complete the team with Jon as The Hunter and Lorrie as
Vixen. I didn't intend to make them such horn dogs, they came out that
way with Wolf and Jackal drooling over Lorrie and Hyena drooling over
Jon. His nightmares.
I know I know they tell not to do the dream sequence in stories but
they were just a few scenes, besides they also told us to "Show not
tell". I had to show his nightmares. I didn't know I could write
something that dark. That is his fear, I had to find some way for him
to use his wings.
Yammer: We don't get to see much of Maria's daughter in
"Future Tense" I did figure she was a scrapper from the way she was
able to survive. That spunk had to develop at a young age. Don't know
where Miss Komet came from. She just popped in my head. Introduced
Maria's ex and I was so close to having Maria call Margot Yale a B---h!
Rayne's anxiety came from the fact that she was brought up to be
discreet when it comes to rescuing people. It would make sense for her
to be a little nervy to be in the middle of a busy street in a big
city. That is a good question that Hudson wondered about the Q's and
Castaway. I gotta write a fic where Jon comes across a few of his
members at night.
Yammer: This was one of those stories that could not wait
to be written. I started to create the AntiClan back in Breakout. While
I was writing GreenPeace I had a feeling that Ocelot would end up with
them. Just needed more members. URA was easy to name since she was a
bear like gargoyle. I had an idea for a bat headed British clan member
for a while and Vlad just seemed to fit for a name. Momar was just
kinda of there in my head and Chi Lin was going to have a big part so I
had to make her special. Chi Lin is the Chinese Unicorn, and they look
like deer with a spiral unicorn horn. Like the bat headed gargoyle I
created a snow leopard mutate. Reggie was introduced and I brought in
the Neo Pack. I already knew from the start that Fang would not get
along with Wolf. Felicia not liking Lorrie, well a girl who dies her
hair so she would be unique must take pride in being the only human
female and Lorrie comes and ruins that. Jon hates his gargoyle form,
but he is slowly adapting: Roars during sex, doesn't cover up his
glowing eyes and using his wings more. Having Chi Lin come on to him,
He doesn't realize how attractive he is to female gargs and her being
in heat did get to him. Thailog asking Reggie's help so he can sleep
with Chi Lin shows how much of a Bastard he can be. Reggie's power! Oh
yes there is an explanation for that. I think Greg and Corbin are going
to be special in that way too.
Yammer: I realized back when I wrote Abduction that if
Fox, Cazador and Kitty were going to get chummy with Jason he would
eventually learn about Demona being part of the Clan. I felt Robyn
would notice the change first and convince Jason.
Pride Force. Since the pack used wild dog names I decided to use Wild
Cat code names for the actors. Jason the Actor and Robyn the singer. A
little nod to their voice actors. A bit of a joke with Jason watching Drew
Carrey
Yammer: I love Greek Mythology. The movie that introduced
me to the topic when I was a lil shaver was Clash of the Titans
I wanted to put a new spin on the Perseus legend by applying the
Gargoyles universe to it. Cassopeia is a half fey, Perseus is a
gargoyle, and Pegasus is animagus, the sisters are the fates, and
Medusa is a person who would rather be dead than to cause people to be
stone. I get a real kick out of inept magicians.
I also enjoy creation or background stories and I have wondered why
gargoyles turned to stone in the first place. Medusa's sister out for
vengeance seemed like a good way to do it.
Yammer: I am really being mean to Elisa and I don't know
why. Goliath giving her a wedding to make her happy shows that he has a
bit of romantic side. The title obviously refers to Goliath and
Canmore kicking each other's butts.
I did have Canmore come across some of his old members at night and yup
they didn't see him as Castaway at first, but one of the creatures they
have hunted down. I figured one of the more zealous members would
believe Castaway would rather be dead than a gargoyle.
Jon has been feeling a bit of his gargoyle instincts surface in the
past, but now a new one came up. The instinct to protect, still in
denial of what he is.
Yammer: I thought at first This was probably going to be
the closest thing I will do to pure F/F (And then I went and wrote
Mysterious Creatures)fiction Sevarius is sick but we don't know much
about his family life. we do know that Kitty went to Area 51 for her
uncle. It would make sense for Anton to be that uncle. He also has a
dead wife and a daughter in boarding school. I felt lonely for
family...and not male family members, but female ones, and no not in a
sick way either.
Steakespeare. This is one of my dad's wacky ideas. "If we were going to
open a restaurant it would be a Shakespeare themed one." We even made
up the menu in the car. Since Greg W loves Shakespeare I added the
place to my universe. Boy Jon is going to be surprised when his child
is born.
Yammer: The follow up to Irresistible. I couldn't just
leave Michelle in the lab and Eleanor in the Labyrinth. I tried to add
more to the younger two sisters personalities. Lucy being quiet yet
smart was given the love of science and learning to like poems while
Michelle being young and energetic a love of games, and learning how to
bake. I have heard and read about how hard rehab is for anyone. I felt
bad about having Talon and Claw put those mitts and block on her tail,
but she had to stop touching herself.
Yammer: Ah prequels can be tricky things, but my muse told
me this had to be done. I felt like I had to explain how Castaway got
to Elumore in the first place, and it had nothing to do with "Angels in
The Night" I threw the last twelve episodes of the Goliath Chronicles
out the window. I also wanted to do a scene where Elisa tells Peter
that she was in love with Goliath.
Yammer: Thailog still recruiting for his clan and wanting
the best of the best.
I was also a bit disappointed with Disney's Hercules where they
made Hades the bad guy. In the legends he came off as dark and brooding
to me that equals sexy. He was also the only one of his brothers who
was faithful to his wife.
Yammer: I'll come right out an admit it. I can't stand
Margot Yale. Making her a vampire was a bit of an improvement. I loved
how Christine Morgan gave Brendan a pair in her stories and I wanted to
make him more of a man: someone who can stand up to creeps who try to
rob him. Having him as a werewolf is a unique twist. It might cause him
to ditch his yuppie yearnings.
Yammer: This title had nothing to do with Sevarius's
quote. This was about Angelica and why she has her abilities. I like
Angels. I thought it would be neat to have an Angel hybrid in my
series. She cursed both Demona and the eighteenth century pirate
Hunter. It took a couple centuries, but better late than never. I knew
if there was going to be a Banshee then there was going to have to be
the other Fair folk of Ireland and that would include Luchorpan's (That
is the original spelling, The British changed it to Leprechaun.)
Yammer:I just had to put in one Shakespeare play into my
story, so I modeled my favorite Tragedy. King Lear is CEO Ambrosia
Leahs
and his daughters are her sons. There are the other characters such as
Leahs's secretary as the Fool. I took a Shakespeare class over a year
ago. One thing we had to do was splinter off into groups and each group
would perform a scene from one of Shakespeare's plays, extra points if
the scene is from King Lear. My group wanted to do the Blinding of
Glouster scene badly, but another group got to perform it first. They
did it Reservoir Dogs style. That inspired that once scene with Nolan
Glendale and Tony's Gang. The scene my group performed also inspired a
scene. Where Leahs, Kade, and Tracie were in front of the sleazy motel.
Yammer:Besides Angels I also dig the circus, well not the
type that is cruel to animals which is why there were only a few animal
acts in the Moonlight circus and those animals were treated with
nothing but love and respect, as evidence of one of the tigers coming
to the defense of Melanie. The circus that Moonlight was modeled after
was Circue Du Solei. I was lucky to have seen this performance last
January. It took my breath away.
The porcelain shell came from a strange idea. There is a carousel at
Seuss landing at Islands of Adventure. The creatures that people can
ride were created by Dr. Seuss. What if they could come alive? Then it
hit me, what if gargoyles were the carousel creatures. Of course they
would have to have been smoother and more colorful for people to ride.
Yammer:This was a blast to write. I don't which part I had
more fun writing, one of the many parts in the elevator or where Jon
kicked Reggie's but. This story just zipped right on with me. The board
room meetings, the moment when Jon and Demona succumbed to Reggie's
control even the confession scenes came easily to my mind.
Yammer:I felt it was time to stop the arch with Jon being
in Denial. How to get him to admit? Well He won't listen to Goliath or
Demona. Won't listen to his siblings, and I'm pretty sure if Lorrie
told him he still would be in denial. It had to take a higher power.
The closest thing I had to a higher power was in the form of Angelica
O'Riley, and she did curse him to begin with.
I also wanted to give Elisa and Goliath some hope that they could have
children...now the only place that I made it possible before was in
stone By Day with Perseus and Andromeda.
I remember reading a story where Sleeping Beauty's daughter became
Cinderella, her daughter became Snow White and her son became the Frog
Prince. I wanted to do something similar with the Greek Heroes and from
Perseus and Andromeda we get Bellapheron who also had a animagus as a
friend. Most likely Pegasus's daughter. From his blood and enchanted
stones we get the mating stones.
Yammer:Of all the ideas that I get from watching the
Simpsons. I remember an episode where Homer threw a party in
International waters on Mr. Burns's yacht.
Having the bad guys be pirates were too cliché I needed another
angle,
so I went into my head and tried to think of characters that I hadn't
played with much yet. Jerry and Gloria popped up. I wanted the Pack to
catch them and sell them to This Trepkos fella but they needed a reason
too.
Gargs as slave labor? Nah I wanted the boat to be some sort of
buisness...and then it hit me. A brothel! I nixed Jerry right away
I needed another female, but who? Can't use Angela and Demona since
they have been both through small bits of hell in my universe. I also
remembered that I made a promise to being mean to characters to both
Cannon and original. I wanted to put both an original and a cannon
through the emotional meat grinder. Thus the second one who gets taken
is Rayne and after being put through hell she decided to leave the
clan, thus causing heartache for Lexington.
and it looks like Proetus is on the loose as well.
Yammer:Back in Irresistible I established that Sevarius
had a daughter and his niece is Kitty. I figured Sevarius could not
have a normal kid and not by normal means. This is Sevarius after all.
He also had a dead wife, from her frozen eggs and his sperm he created
Seneca in the lab and grew her like the clones, but took exactly nine
months.
We learned in "OutFoxed" that Sevarius once worked for Renard. Knowing
the type of people Renard would hire I figured Sevarius didn't start
out that bad. I wrote him to be a good father who also encouraged his
niece to hold on to her dream. His descent started slow with good
intentions.
Seneca turning out to being a bit of a psychopath. Come on now what is
more fun and spooky than a little girl with diabolical plans.
Yammer:With all the times I allowed Tony Dracon to be
released from jail I had nearly forgotten about Brode. He did share a
cell with Tony. I needed to write a story with Brode and Jack Dane.
Brode is a smart man. He's like a mix of both Tony and Xanatos. I could
see him as someone who would want to start up his operation somewhere
away from the city.
And there is a thread dangling about the crystal beast knowing about
weregoyles.
Yammer:Looking over Ask Greg and what I have seen at the
Two Gatherings I have been a I fell in love with the Idea of the Bad
Guys or Redemption Squad I knew who the original members
were:Yama,Dingo,Matrix,Fang and Robyn. There was also going to be a
mysterious Boss character called The Director.
Yammer:I decided to write something warm and fuzzy
covering the holidays in December. Some of what I felt were the more
feel good scenes included: Samson's gift to Miriam, Jason's proposal to
Christine, and Hudson's story about his Milady and telling Broadway
that is his biological father.
I also introduced two of Brendon's nieces here.
I had a lot of fun having Jon adapt more to his form. the training
session with the pack and how he was craving the pigeon. Another
favorite scene for me was where Wolf and Jon were chugging down beers
and Jon's constitution was stronger than Wolfs.

Yammer: little bits and pieces entered my mind before I
had
the main idea for the story. The first came i the form of a gargoyle
holiday where a nasty type of fae ruins it.
The fae evolved into the goblins and the holiday became the Harvest
Moon celebration. Rayne knew about it, but being the shy and sweet girl
she is didn't
bring it up. The Network seed to be the perfect choice of information
source. Then as I was working out the outline I felt
the goblins ruining the holiday would have seemed too cliché.
Okay they
attack someone before the holiday and the clan helps. This is where the
beauty pageant comes in.
I created the Autumn Queen pageant because of the Harvest Moon occurs
during the first full moon of september. The pageant came into place
but I gave it an edge of having it for Law and business students and
newcomers to those fields. (Hey, blame Donald's Trump's reality show)(
I needed a young socialite who needed to be either a business major or
a law student and I remembered Jodi aka Brett Yale's girlfriend. She
would be perfect. I needed judges: Xanatos, The Police commissioner,
Ambrosia Leahs, and Dr Callahan.
and an announcer, Travis Marshall. Xanatos being the judge he could ask
the clan to watch over the pageant and this was where the goblins came
in.
This was where another problem came up. Why would the goblins
attack a beauty pageant? That was when I remembered a certain episode
of Tripping the Riff. The fifth judge sets up a co worker of his and
tries to swing the vote. The first name that appeared was Briggs
and his secretary. Gosford and the mysterious Davis could sabotage the
other contestants. Everything was falling into place except for the
goblins motivation. Then I remembered Davis had something that needed
clearing up. This lead to the mutate ability which lead to the goblins
dislike and bam!
EI: The corny pageant
titles for the contestants was inspired by an episode of Quantum Leap. The inside Judge was
inspired by an episode of Tripping
The Riff. Davis's ability was inspired by am X-Files novel
titled Goblins
There were several scene that just flowed when I wrote them. The
beginning scenes with Annie and Macbeth took on a life of their own.
The Pack's poker game came out just as smoothly. Mucho's Kudos to Chris
Rogers's poker lessons,
and I enjoyed writing the concert scenes. I have heard Keith David
singing and I can easily imagine him singing a little Sinatra.
GI: The obvious line of "You'll have to do better than
that" came into play and after viewing "City of Stone" again I had the
image of Macbeth in Hunter's mask on his flying contraption.
