Thoughts that have criss-crossed my mind lately

A few weeks ago my parents told me that I can cut through a lot of confusion by focusing on "What do I want?" and "How do I get it?" But I always have to complicate things. Not to get too esoteric or Buddhist about it, but one of the things I want is to want fewer things. (The more I want, the more likely I am to compromise, or to find myself jumping through hoops.)

But if I want to be successful, I should remember what Alec Baldwin said in Glengarry Glen Ross : Always be closing.

When the concept of success loses meaning, I can act as if there is a God who wants me to be successful. Prayer has value whether God exists or not.
