               Episode # 34 - Best of Duels, Best of Friends (Pt. 2)

     The Duel Between Friends continues as the weather outside grows stormy and dark.  Pegasus comments on how well Joey is doing, he has his Black Skull Dragon on the field while Yugi has none of his own.  Yugi is at 550 LP and Joey has 750.  Pegasus wonders what Yugi is up to.  He should be able to win.  Yugi begins his turn and lays out the Dark Magician, Joey notices that it isn't strong enough to defeat his dragon, he has the advantage right now.  Yugi talks about combining monsters with magic cards and plays the Magical Silk Hats to conceal the Magician under one of four hats. 

     Yugi explains that the magician is under one of the hats and Joey is rushed into making a decision.  Even though the odds are against him, Joey decides to attack with the Black Skull Dragon.  The smoke clears and it turns out the hat was empty, there are three left now.  Joey plays Gurozies and Yugi wonders what is going to do.  Joey says next turn he will use his monster.  Yugi takes his turn and plays a trap card under one of the hats.  Joey will have to be careful when attacking, he might find the Dark Magician, or a trap waiting for him.  Joey decides to attack and when the smoke clears they find out it was another dud.  Yugi tells Joey it's all or nothing now.  If he attacks the right hat, he wins, but the wrong hat will make him loose.  Joey says this was the type of duel he wanted with Yugi and attacks the hat on the right.  This time when the smoke clears, a small ring appears, the Spellbinding Circle.

     The Circle traps the Black Skull Dragon and lowers it's attack points to 2500.  Joey switches his monsters to defense mode to protect his life points.  The odds are against him with the Spellbinding Circle on his most powerful monster.  Yugi tells Joey he is improving as a duelist.  He draws a card and smiles.  He tells Joey to get ready, the duel is just getting heated up.  Meanwhile outside, lightning crashes and rain pours as the friends duel.  Yugi reveals his card to Joey, the Book of Secret Arts!  The magic card gives the Dark Magician just enough power to defeat the Black Skull Dragon.  Pegasus applauds Yugi's move.  He certainly has turned the duel around.

     Tristan wonders what Joey is going to do now.  Joey is about to give up on himself to when he remembers a promise that he gave Serenity to bring her back to the beach.  He draws a card and gets Baby Dragon.  He plays a trap card face down and ends his turn.  Yugi doesn't want to let Joey bring out the Thousand Dragon so he decides to attack with the Dark Magician on his turn.  Joey activates his trap card, Chained Boomerang!  Yugi's monster can attack now.  He compliments Joey on a nice move and ends his turn.  Joey thinks that the duel is almost his and draws what he needs, The Time Magician.  Joey remembers when Yugi first gave him the Time Magician.  Yugi knows what card it is and remembers too with a smile on his face.  Joey plays the Time Magician and the roulette spins and lands on a Time Warp!!

     The Baby Dragon evolves into the Thousand Dragon.  The time warp has an effect on the Dark Magician as well, he grows old and weaker, his attack power is reduced to 100.  The Chained Boomerang wears off and the Magician floats above the arena.  Joey sheds a tear asking Yugi to forgive him for using his card.  But Yugi is still looking at Joey like something is going to happen.  Joey goes ahead and attacks the Dark Magician.  The dragon's attack rushes towards the magician but stops before it gets there.  Everyone is shocked and Pegasus has to sit up to watch.  Yugi explains that the Dark Magician has gotten wiser with age.  The Dark Magician has become the DARK SAGE!  Yugi explains that when he summons the Dark Sage he is allowed to get one magic card from his deck.  He chooses the Monster Reborn card and with tears in his eyes he revives the Black Skull Dragon.

     A tear slips from Joey's eyes and he tells Yugi to go ahead and attack.  He knows the duel is over.  Though quiet tears Yugi attacks and Joey's Life Points fall to 0.  It is silent for a moment.  Tea has tears in her eyes knowing that someone had to loose.  Pegasus had expected Yugi to win and gets up to prepare for his duel.

     Outside a blue sky and puffy white clouds cover the castle.  Joey offers Yugi his prize card but Yugi doesn't accept.  He says that he can have the money for his sister's operation, Yugi is only worried about saving his Grandpa and the Kaiba brothers.  Joey has tears in his eyes as he thanks Yugi and inside his heart he knows Yugi will beat Pegasus.

Episode Rating (1-10) 9.12  Well the duel was awesome.  Yah, Joey VS Yugi - We've been waiting a long time for this.  One of the best things is that through the duel they remained friends.  The tears and encouragement was beautiful.  Joey has really grown up as a duelist and is able to prove himself to Yugi.
