        EPISODE GUIDE

Episode # 33 - Best of Duels, Best of Friends (Pt. 1)

Croquet announced the final match between Joey and Yugi, the winner will earn the right to challenge Pegasus and win the prize money.  Yugi wants to win to save his grandfather and Joey wants to win to save his sister.  Bakura says it will be a great duel between friends and neither can afford to loose.  One will win and the other will loose their loved one.  Tea and Tristan are nervous for both of them.  Joey thanks Yugi for all his help to this point.  They agree that they have to try their best and not matter what, they will still be friends.  Pegasus announces the start of the duel and they begin.  Yami Yugi takes the first turn and plays Celtic Guardian (1400/1200) in attack mode.  Tea and Bakura thinks Yugi might go easy on Joey but Yugi takes Joey seriously as a duelist.

Joey begins his turn by playing Giltia the D. Knight (1800/1500).  He attacks and the Celtic Guardian is destroyed.  Already Yugi is down to 1550 Life Points.  Bakura still thinks Yugi might be going easy on Joey and if he continues like that he will loose for sure.  Yugi however realizes that Joey is a great duelist and the match isn't as easy as he thought it would be.  Yugi takes time to talk about balancing decks with magic cards and monster cards.  He says Joey has to many monster cards so Yugi will be able to win.  Yugi knows now that his mistake was to play a monster card alone.  He says he won't be that foolish again and plays Gaia the Fierce Knight in attack mode.  It easily takes down Giltia and Joey's LP fall to 1550.  Joey is enjoying the duel now that Yugi is trying to win.  He wants Yugi to do his best.

Joey surprises everyone by playing Armored Lizard (1500/1200) in defense mode.  Bakura says that he must be planning a strategy or something because it was a weak move.  Yugi also doesn't think to highly of how Joey played and sends Summoned Skull (2500/1200) to destroy the Lizard.  Joey is still pretty happy; he must be up to something.  He says he will take down Summoned Skull.  Outside the castle, the weather has turned worse and it starts to get dark.

Joey makes his move and plays Flame Swordsman (1800/1600) in attack mode.  Yami Yugi wonders what he's up to.  Joey plays Swords and Shields switching the attack and defense of both monsters on the field.  Flame Swordsman stands at 1600 attack points while Yugi's Summoned Skull only has 1200.  He attacks and Yugi's LP fall to 1150.  Yugi realizes that Joey has learned a lot about dueling and steps the duel to the next level.  He plays Curse of Dragon and fusses it with Gaia to make Gaia the Dragon Champion (2600/2100).  It destroys Joey's Flame Swordsman and his LP fall to 750.  Joey knows that he has no monsters strong enough in his deck.  In his hand he has; Red Eyes, Kunni with Chain, Cherubis, and Graverobber.  He wants to play Red Eyes but he knows it's not powerful enough by itself and it would be destroyed.

Joey begins his turn by drawing Copycat.  He plays Red Eyes Black Dragon and then uses Graverobber to bring back Yugi's Summoned Skull.  Finally he plays Copycat to use Polymerization to fuse them together.  They combine to form... RED EYES BLACK SKULL DRAGON!!!  (3200/2500).  Everyone is surprised except for Pegasus who applauds his move.  He attacks the Dragon Champion bringing Yugi's LP down to 550.  Yugi then congratulates Joey on a great move.  Outside the castle, it begins to rain hard as the sky gets darker.  Yugi is in a tight spot.  Which of the friends will move on?

Episode Rating (1-10) 8.998  Well the duel was awesome.  Yah, Joey VS Yugi - We've been waiting a long time for this.  Joey has really grown up as a duelist and is able to prove himself to Yugi.  It's almost a waste though we know who's going to win in the end.  (What like you don't know?
