        EPISODE GUIDE

               Episode # 28 - The Night Before

This episode starts with Joey, stuffing his face at dinner with the other finalists and their friends.  They are all most done eating when Croquet comes in and tells them to relax before tomorrow's competition.  He recites the rules that each finalist must have "The Kings Left Hand Honor" card to challenge Pegasus, and "The Kings Right Hand Honor" to receive the prize.  Joey is scared because he doesn't have either card.  He panics and tells the others that he can't compete.  Bandit Keith doesn't have the cards either, but keeps it to himself.  Croquet tells them to look at their soups and a Millennium Eye pop out in Yugi, Joey, Bandit Keith, and Mai's bowls.  Croquet instructs them to look inside.  Inside there is a sheet of paper with a letter on it.  Yugi gets A, Mai gets B, Bandit Keith gets C and Joey gets D.  A screen comes down from the ceiling and Croquet explains the structure of the Championships.  Each person with a letter will match up.  The screen shows A Vs. B and C Vs. D.  This means it will be Yugi Vs Mai and Bandit Keith Vs Joey.  The winner of those two matches will face each other for the right to challenge Pegasus.

Joey and Bandit Keith shout at each other and swap their torments, but Yugi and Mai are less vocal.  It was what Mai had hopped for.  Croquet leaves them to finish dinner.  As soon as he's gone. Yugi goes over to Joey and offers him "The Kings Right Hand," the card for the prize.  The rules say that you only need one card to compete in the finals but two to challenge Pegasus.  Joey excepts the gift and the opportunity to help his sister, Serenity.  Behind them at the table, Bandit Keith watches Joey get his card and wonders how he can get his.  Mai gets up to leave saying she wants some rest before he match with Yugi.  She says good night to everyone and everyone else gets up.

Later, Tristan and Bakura go to their rooms while Yugi, Joey, and Tea stay in the hall.  Joey tells them he thinks they have what it takes to win.  Meanwhile, Around the corner, Bandit Keith watches them go to their rooms.  Yugi pauses in his room to think about Grandpa, Mokuba, and Kaiba.  He promises that he will save them.  In Mai's room, she is going over her strategy working out a plan to beat Yugi in the morning.  Joey is already asleep in his room, dreaming about his sister.

Tea stays awake thinking in her room until Tristan and Bakura knock on her door.  Tristan thinks that Kaiba lost because Pegasus cheated.  He wants to make sure he won't cheat against Yugi, so they agree to go check out the arena.  Tea still thinks it might be the Millennium Eye that is giving Pegasus his power.  Meanwhile, Yugi is asleep when he is awaken by his Grandfather's voice.  It tells Yugi to rescue him quickly.

At the Dueling Arena, Tristan and Bakura check out the stand while Tea looks from the balcony.  Tristan thinks there must be a camera around where Pegasus could see Kaiba's hand.  Tea starts to wonder if Pegasus had won fairly.  Just then the moon breaks from behind the clouds and a beam of light falls on Tristan's back.  They see a small crack in the wall where the light was coming in and Tea tells Tristan to stand where Kaiba was and act like he was holding cards.  The moon light hits right where the cards would be.  Tristan looks out the crack and sees Pegasus's tower.  Tristan thinks that during their duel, Pegasus had someone with a telescope to tell him what Kaiba had in his hand.  Tristan says they must go check out the tower but he doesn't know how because it's guarded.  They walk through the castle until he finds a grappling hook and gets and idea.

Meanwhile, Mai is still working on her deck.  Bandit Keith is in his room waiting for something. Yugi is listening for his grandpa.  Suddenly, he hears him and runs out into the courtyard.  He sees a card on the ground with Grandpa's face on it, and the voice seems to be coming from inside it.  Grandpa wants Yugi to rescue him but Yugi doesn't know how.  The card begins to float away and it lands on a cross.  There are two crosses next to it where the souls of Mokuba and Kaiba hang.  They call for Yugi to rescue them too.

By the tower, Tristan, Tea, and Bakura walk carefully along the roof.  Two guards hear Tea above them but they don't look up to see her.  Tristan tosses the grappling hook to the highest balcony and they all climb up the rope.  Tristan, Tea, and Bakura investigate the secret room at the top.  They are positive they will find something.  Bakura discovers a paining of a woman and they all admire it in the dark.  Suddenly the light snaps on but there isn't anyone there.  Tea looks at the painting of the beautiful lady with blond hair and blue eyes.  Tea thinks it is the same picture as the one in the dining room.  They wonder what she means to Pegasus.  Suddenly they hear footsteps and Pegasus walks into the room.  Tristan calls him a cheater and says there has to be evidence in the room.  Pegasus tells them he knew they were coming and he they will be disciplined.  Pegasus uses the Millennium Eye to turn the floor to liquid and they three fall through.

Tristan wakes up and notices that he and the others have been transported to another world.  They hear chanting from down the hall and decide to go check it out.  They find a large room lit with torches.  Hooded figures stand around the wall.  Two of them stand facing each other in the center while the others chant "Realm of Shadows in the Twilight Hour, Accept these souls and grant us power."  One of the men in the center raised his hand and a stone slab raised from the ground with a carving of the Blue Eyes White Dragon on it.  Bakura wants to leave but Tea notices a painting of the same young lady.  The other hooded figure in the center raises a stone slab and it appears that the two are dueling.  The man with the Blue Eyes says he wins and the other man's Dragon Zombie Card disintegrates.  The hooded figure that lost burst into flames.  The winner has the Millennium Eye and comes towards Tea and the others.  He takes off his hood and reveals himself to be Pegasus!

Meanwhile in the Courtyard, the flames are getting higher and starting to reach Grandpa and the other soul cards.  Grandpa tells Yugi that they trust in him and he can save Mokuba and the others.  Suddenly the flame swallow the crosses with Kaiba, Mokuba, and Grandpa's cards on them.  Tension also is building in the tower as Pegasus confronts Tristan, Tea, and Bakura.  Pegasus explains that what they saw was the Game of Darkness.  He says long ago, this game was played in Egypt for power.  Tea wonders more about the Millennium Eye and wonders what that has to do with it.  Tristan finally catches on.  The Eye allows him to see through people's hearts and minds.  Nothing can stop it but the chosen ones who posses the dark power.  Pegasus starts reading their minds until he discovers that he can't read into Bakura's mind.  The Millennium Ring materializes from Bakura and Yami Bakura takes over the body.  Pegasus seems to recognize and fear him.  The Millennium Items start shooting light at each other.

Yugi snaps awake in bed.  He looks around wondering if it all was a dream.  Tristan is back in his room to wondering how he got there.  Tea too is awake an wondering if her experience was a dream.  She remember up to when they went into the tower and then nothing.  Yami Bakura is wide awake in his room chuckling to himself.  The Millennium Ring is hanging from his neck, glowing in the dark.  Yami Bakura has finally found the owner of the Millennium Eye.  Soon it will be his.

In Joey's room, Joey is sound asleep snoring and dreaming about food.  But he isn't alone.  Bandit Keith snuck in Joey's room and started going though his coat pocket looking for the Kings Right Hand Honor Card so he can be in the tournament.  He steals it knowing that Joey won't be able to compete without it.  He'll be forced to forfeit.  In Mai's room, she is happy that she just found a perfect strategy to defeat Yugi.  Morning arrives and Yugi is awake watching the sunrise.  He knows that last night wasn't a dream, it was a message from Grandpa.  Yugi promises he will save his friends.

Episode Rating (1-10) 7.47  This is an awesome episode, for a filler.  The idea was great.  We got some great background of the Shadow Games as well as more Yami Bakura trouble.  The best part though, was how everyone's night was represented.  Each person had a different agenda and it was cool.
