G3-SG1 with Collapsible Stock AEG
Review by: YouNG BLooD

The G3-SG1, originally made by Heckler and Koch, is now brought to you Airsoft style by Tokyo Marui. Boasting the longest length of its brothers (the H&K G3A3 and A4), it is one of the largest guns I have ever seen.

The metal parts of this gun include the barrel, aimer, the sight, Bipod, magazine clip, trigger, trigger guard and the stock. I know, you’re saying: “Hey, the G3-SG1 doesn’t have a metal stock!” Well, mine does!

The G3-SG1 that I have is unique. It was modified to have a collapsible stock. Because of this, the wiring for the battery hookup also has been rewired to be in the front fore grip. One of the screws on the bottom of the fore grip has been removed to allow the most efficient way to remove the fore grip and insert/replace batteries. It is still a bit of problem, because there’s a metal pole I have to remove, and reattaching it takes a while because I have to replace the fore grip perfectly, or it won’t fit.

The Hop-Up System, like most Airsoft guns, lies in the Bolt System. Just pull back the lever on the left side of the gun, and a compartment will open up on the right side of the gun, exposing the hop-up adjustment.

The length of the gun is a little intimidating to some. It is pretty long, but it’s not so long that a majority of the people will have a hard time holding it. It’s about 4 feet long with the stock extended. And because of this length, it SUCKS at CQB. I wouldn't recommend this gun at paintball parks like Tombstone. If you're planning on getting the G3-SG1, also get an MP5 for CQB's. Then you can have a nice Heckler & Koch family in your armory of AEG"s.

Standard clips for the G3 Series (the G3A3, G3A4, G3-SG1 and the MC-51) can hold 70 rounds, which is not too shabby. They are also a little heavy, since they're made out of all metal (as most clips should be). The High-Cap holds  400 rounds, but Team A.W.S. doesn’t use High-Cap Mags, so we shouldn’t discuss this any further.

Like Joker’s Steyr and Vile’s SIG, the G3’s have an EG700 motor. It doesn’t make too much noise when shooting, but it’s noticeable. The distance it shoots is pretty good, but I haven't had a chance to shoot on straight level to see, but at Vile's huge backyard, it will shoot over the 20 ft hill behind his house and still shoot a little bit. So maybe on a good condition it will shoot around 50 ft? I'm probably wrong though. And contrary to popular belief, is it NOT totally inaccurate. I do not see what people are complaining about on the Airsoft Zone forums. My G3 is not inaccurate at all.

G3’s have a lot of accessories to choose from, since G3’s are made to be multi-purpose (Automatic Assault Rifles and decent Sniper Abilities) and are known to be accurate. Scopes and Lasers can be applied (yea, they’re made for every gun, so what?). Also, Tracer Units are applicable, since they include adapters for all guns. That’s all though. There is also a Beta C-MAG that Den Trinity sells, but I hear that it's just like a huge, double High-Cap Mag. How fun it must be to wind the bottom of my mag while shooting at Tangos.

Regular G3-SG1’s have cheek pieces included in manufacturing, but I guess I can’t put one on mine since I have a collapsible stock. I’m planning on buying a scope and a Tracer Unit in the near future, and when I do, I’ll plan to report about their performance on the G3-SG1

One of the cooler things about the G3-SG1 is the bipod that comes with it. Bipods are great, and it's even detachable. Hell, one night, Vile and I got so bored, we detached it from my gun and we put it on his SIG. We didn't have any of the right-sized screws, so Vile used his nuts and bolts from his Erecter Set. The Bipod is really loose on the SIG, but it looks dope when it's extended. But I noticed that it is a lot easier to hold the gun with the bipod off. Unless you're planning on using the G3-SG1 as a Sniper Rifle or SAW (Squad Assault Weapon), I would advise for you to take it off. But it is always nice to have =).

Overall, this gun is pretty cool, but only when you play outdoor games or maybe the occasional game at a warehouse. Other than that, I think it sucks. Cosmetically, it also looks too much like a toy, and it was possible to almost bend the damn thing. There is a constant complaint about the squeaking that occurs because of the mass of plastic that keeps grinding against each other when you run around. It does make an uncomfortable amount of noise, but it won’t really matter if you know how to play well. It also fixable with Styrofoam or foam pool noodles. Haha, I'm glad I got rid of it! =D
