It's not a place. It's a state of mind. |

Here is another picture of the rudder in the down position. The lanyard makes
it easy to pull the rudder up for beaching but if I get into shallow water the
rudder just lifts as it encounters obstructions. No messing with
the lanyard to keep it adjusted correctly. In the shallow water where
I sail this is very convenient. |
Here is the framework for the rear compartment. I used 1/2 inch ply so
it can double as a seat. It's painted both inside and out after sealing
with epoxy mix. |
Rear compartment after deck and hatch rim is completed. Part of the compartment
is coated with epoxy mix at this point. There is a 3 inch lip around
the compartment so I can still use the outboard motor, mounted on either side
of the rudder. |
I installed the forward deck back to the first frame. This should give me more
than enough reserve buoyancy both fore and aft in the event of a capsize.
The storage is very useful in keeping the boat uncluttered. The
rear section of the compartment is nailed and glued to the front of the first
frame, making it water tight. I used the same 3 inch lip so anything on
deck wouldn't want to go over the side. Looking pretty
salty at this point. . |
