ESSAY PROMPT: Today's youth face an overwhelming challenge of counteracting the negative aspects of the media and entertainment industries. Though society tends to accept these things as typical reflections of 'youth' and 'pop' culture, how can we -- as CFC-Youth for Christ -- resolve society's acceptance of the current 'trends'?

the beautiful faye get a new wagon rolling

life in today's world is so bombarded with media that sometimes it becomes difficult to tell right from wrong. as cfc-youth for christ members, God chose us to be delegates of His Word. i believe this means to not only separate ourselves from the negative values magnified in media, but to stand up and try to save His people from those same values.

youth for Christ can directly affect these industries by boycotting their negative aspects. for example, mtv is one of the leading entertainment industries that caters to the youth. it promotes the values that the Lord wants to redeem us from. we can take a stand and tell mtv that we don't support what they consider is good entertainment by simply not watching. they will sooner or later realize that the negative aspects of the media are not what we want when their ratings plummet.

further, i think that if we show them what we consider righteous and wholesome, they will automatically cater to us, because they thrive mainly on what we like. they rely on the trends that we like, and if we don't like their trends, then we won't buy.

i think what it really means is sacrificing being "hip and trendy." we as yfc know what God considers "hip and trendy." we need to break ourselves off from the corrupt bandwagon to get a new bandwagon rolling that carries the value that our God approves of.

not joining the bandwagon that supports the current trends is a challenging task, but the bandwagon that loads up on God's Word will lead to a road of eternal life. i'd rather ride that wagon rather than one that leads to death after only a short time of being trendy on earth.
