Main Hydroelectric Energy

Hydroelectric power has already been in use for the last few decades all around the world. Essentially it is the use of water to operate turbines to produce electricity. Just as with wind energy, the idea is simply a modification of the old idea of using water wheels. One way to extract hydro energy would be: piping water so that it falls through tubes down the sides of mountains, would produce electricity. Alternatively, dams can be built so that large lakes form and again, by letting water from the lake pass over turbines, you can produce electricity. But just as with wind energy, hydroelectricity can use up lots of land. Many power plants in Africa to produce hydroelectricity have been the cause for floods of many millions of acres of land and made millions of inhabitants homeless. Since this has turned into quite a threatening problem, people are rather turning to micro-hydro projects: small-scale hydroelectricity schemes for individual villages or projects.
