For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology

-FIRST is one of the two competitions that we compete in. FIRST has three different competitions in it: Robotics Competition, Lego League, and Vex Challenge. The Lego League competition is for younger kids from the ages of 9 to 14; they use LEGO bricks and other fundamentals such as sensors, motors, and gears. The teams gain hands-on experience in engineering and computer programming principles as they construct and program their unique robot inventions. The Vex Challenge is a simpler challenge than the Robotics Competition, and the kits are also a little more affordable; it is also made for high school students. The Robotics Competition is a world wide competition; teams from all over the world come and compete in the championships. Teams are given a problem that they must solve, and it is like the real world because each team has a limited budget and limited amount of time. At the moment we are only competing in the FIRST Robotics Competition. Anyone who attends a competition has fun; the parents and the siblings of participants also have fun because they enjoy watching.

Boosting Engineering, Science & Technology

-BEST is the other competition we compete in. Schools that compete in the BEST competition are competing in two things: the robotics competition and for the BEST Award. The robotics competition has a different theme every year; four teams compete at once in a series of three-minute. The BEST Award is presented to the team that best displays the concept of Boosting Engineering, Science, and Technology. Elements include a project summary notebook, oral presentation, table display, and spirit and sportsmanship.
