- Wind disperses 'qi' and Water holds 'qi' : A Common axiom in Feng Shui. What role does Water really play ? |

People tend to have an affinity with the water element. Properties found near rivers seemingly fetch higher sale prices whilst businesses are often advised placing fish tanks in the north sector of their offices.
Special efforts have to be made in ensuring the amount of water placed within any area. For example, swimming pools found in condominiums are fine as the strength of the building is able to withstand the element (ratio of water to building) but if you're living in a small dwelling, with a massive swimming pool or spa, it'll only serve to create financial bad luck for its occupants. Never overdo the presence of water as too much of it can spell extreme misfortune ! There are exceptions to this rule : For farmers or businesses dealing in pools, it is advisable to have your water feature a fair distance from your dwelling.
When applying the water element, it is important to understand that metal containers create better results than earthen ones. Metal strengthens water in the cycle of the elements. If you have been advised to place a fish tank in any direction of your dwelling, be sure to clean the tank regularly to avoid 'sha qi' (negative influence). Water placed any where has to be FRESH and moving, to encourage the good 'chi' to meander smoothly into your dwelling.
To sum up, water is a fantastic energizer for wealth but remember to avoid :
Placing water (fish tanks, etc) in bedrooms, kitchens, toilets as this may result in financial loss or robbery/burglary
Placing water feature on right hand side of house/office (inside looking out), as it may cause the patriach/breadwinnner to commit adultery
Placing water features flanking door ways to a house, as this may result in an extremely stressful family environment, which may cause one to lose their jobs or family member.
Based on my Feng Shui analysis, until 2043, it can be safely said that WATER in the Southwest or East, can assist in prosperity. The water, however, should be placed in fairly large containers (100 gallons).
If these directions happened to be at the front or back of your dwelling, I strongly advise you consult a qualified practitioner to determine if such a position is beneficial to all occupants. To proceed with an online consultation, please email us by clicking here.
