Battlestar Galactica (Classic and New Series)
Links last checked on February 23, 2005.

Who knew that a chance viewing of the BSG pilot episode on the BBC would lead me into yet *another* fandom? But this is one that I’ll gladly venture into. Apollo and Starbuck -- the first crushes of my youth.

The Penalty for Treason by Anna
Slash. I just have to say that this is probably one of the best slash stories I’ve ever read -- in *any* fandom. The writing is excellent and the plot is a glowing example of how to write a classic h/c story. Apollo is framed and convicted of high treason, leaving his family and Starbuck desperate to prove his innocence. But even if they do manage to free him, will there be any of the old Apollo left in the abused drug addict that he has become? Heartbreaking at times, this story manages to walk that fine line between hurt/comfort without falling into the ‘abuse abyss’ that ruins so many other stories.

Card Games by James Walkswithwind
Slash. Gotta say that this story reminded me of Trek episode -- a modern day morality tale set somewhere in space. Then again, Trek never had a first time sex scene as good as this one, though. James has done it again, another wonderful story in yet *another* fandom. While discussing their family’s history, Apollo receives an unexpected revelation from Adama. But after so many years as friends is the news too little too late for Apollo and Starbuck? 45k

Captive Soul by Rita G Mac Auslan and Claire
Slash. While this story is a little more graphic than I usually go for, there are moments in it that absolutely shine. When Starbuck’s past comes back to haunt him, will he be strong enough to overcome it? This story contains graphic violence, rape, and bdsm elements.

Streaks by James Walkswithwind
Non-graphic slash. The BSG fandom has a tendency to lean a little more toward the h/c side of fic, which is what makes this sweet little Apollo-and-Starbuck-realize-their-feelings story such a nice change of pace.

Found by Rita G Mac Auslan
Adult themes. This is another darker piece, but it's just so incredibly crafted. Be prepared to go through the emotional ringer. After being held prisoner for twenty years, Apollo and Starbuck finally return to the Galactica. All does not seem to go well for Starbuck, though. Will he ever be able to learn to live with himself again. This story contains graphic violence, rape, and torture.

Daniel Jack

Hear that grumbling in the background? That would be me bemoaning the fact that I’m sinking into yet *another* fandom. I can’t help it, though! What is it with me and adorable anthropologists? And for that matter, what is it with adorable anthropologists falling for buff military guys? Sheesh. ;-)

One Weekend by Nessessitee

Slash. Nessessitee is one of, if not the, most prolific SG-1 slash writers out there. Best of all, her stories are consistantly exceptional. One Weekend is probably my favourite of them all, though. When circumstances force Daniel to stay at Jack’s, both men find it difficult to keep their inner-most desires hidden. A wonderful first time story.

This Is Me by Jennifer Lyon
Slash. And speaking of prolific writers, Jennifer’s work spreads out over too many different fandoms to list! Fortunately, she’s turned her attention to Stargate, and has offered this profound series.

Gift of the Serpent by Morgan
Slash. This story beautifully illustrates what a lack of communication can do to a budding relationship. This oh-too-believable story is well-written, and the characterizations are spot on. Oh, and did I mention that it has an awesome first time scene, too?

Shield by Brenda Antrim
Adult Themes. Another of fanfic’s most enduring, versitile writers. When Daniel is captured and tortured by Apophis, the anthropologist draws strength from a not-so-surprising source. Note: This story contains rape.

Dreamers - Jack by Sandi
Slash. Sandi has done a great job with this neat little PWP. Hot sex, solid characterization, and a first time story to boot! I’ll probably never think of someone lazing in the back yard the same way again .

Suspense by Biblio
Slash. Oh my, now here is a first time story that’s got it all. Jack is forced to show his proverbial hand when another officer begins putting designs on Daniel. The snappy dialogue makes this story a real gem. Clio, who runs the lovely Slash Slut Recommendations page was kind enough to let me know that Suspense actually has two equally worthy sequels, Solace and Serenity.

Prodigal Son by Biblio
Pre-Slash. This story also came from Clio’s Slash Slut Recommendations page. It comes with JR’s ‘Don’t Drink Anything While Reading This’ warning. Jack brings an exhausted, overstressed Daniel to Chez O’Neill for a little R-n-R. You think Jack has a quirky sense of humor? Wait till you meet his parents. 31K.

No, Thank You, John by Widget

Slash. Ah, nothing like a long, well-written SG-1 story to improve my day. Widget takes the characters through their paces with this one. When Jack can't come to terms over his one-night stand with Daniel, he may just lose him altogether. Although I'm probably going to get unsubbed from SG-1 slash lists, I love how Widget takes her time in developing the relationship that evolves between Daniel and Major Davis. And the depth of emotions she gives all three of the principle characters is so realistic it's heartwrenching. 312k

Little Things by Anais
Slash. Someone should have reminded SG-1 not to drink the water (or in this case, wine) during their last trip through the gate. Returning home, the team is left trying to piece together what exactly happened. 200K

Buoyancy by Keiko Kirin
Slash. Jack starts to get curious when Daniel starts wearing that 'I just got laid look'. But is it really curiosity, or is it something a little closer to jealousy? 91K

The Tide Falls by Meridian
Slash. I have a soft spot for SG-1 stories that deal with Jack's family. This one packs a real punch, too. A family tragedy brings Jack back to Chicago, but after so many years of silence, will Jack, with Daniel's support, be able to heal the rift between himself and his parents? 112K

Obi-Wan & Qui Gon

Y’know, I said it would never happen. Sure, ‘oh yeah, they’re doing it’ was the only thought in my mind as I watched the movie. Unfortunately, my first brushes with TPM slash were pretty awful. Now, thanks to some wonderful recommendations from Raonaid I’ve been turned to the Q/O side, and have done some additional reading on my own. I have to admit, though, that I seem to have developed this total fascination with ‘fix-it’ TPM stories (ie - ones where you know who didn’t you know what).

Resisting Temptations by Keelywolfe

Slash. Probably my favourite of all TPM stories I’ve read so far. A little prank Obi-Wan pulls on his Master has more consequences than either of them ever dreamed. Keelywolfe’s characterizations are nothing short of stunning, and her sex scenes are just brimming with the perfect mix of emotions and passion. 103K

Broken Link! Shrift by The Emu
Non-graphic slash/Fix-it. This is easily my fav ‘fix-it’ story. The Emu injects the characters with wonderful warmth and just the right touch of humor. After a 7-year separation, Knight Kenobi returns to the temple -- and his old Master. I particularly love Yoda’s observation of Obi-Wan at the end. 36k

The Padawan's Whore by Emma Woodhouse
Slash. Yet another gem from the mysterious Emma. As they say on BtVS, ‘love makes you do the wacky’. Qui Gon repeatedly helps Obi-Wan to relieve some of his Padawan’s tension, but will Obi-Wan ever learn that Qui Gon wants so much more? 58k

L'Histoire d'Obi by Lilith Sedai
Slash. While not my typical kind of story, this one is just so incredibly well written, I have to include it here. Obi-Wan and Qui Gon take an usual mission, one that will push their Master/Apprentice relationship to the breaking point. Note: This story contains BDSM (especially D/S relations). 395k

In My End Is My Beginning by Lilith Sedai
Slash/Fix-it. While I try not to recommend more than one story per fandom per author (I figure that if you guys like one story, you’ll track down more of the author’s work on your own, right? ;-) I’m gladly bending my own rules for this one, though. Obi-Wan goes back in time to teach Qui Gon what he will need to know to save him from Darth Maul. Angsty-but-tender, this story is an amazing read -- especially the swordfight between Obi-Wan and Qui Gon.

Jedi of Naboo: Every Saga Has Its Beginning by Anne Higgins
Slash/Fix-it. Sigh. Ain’t nothin’ like re-writing the entire saga as we know it . But Anne does such a lovely job of it. At the end of RotJ, Obi-Wan is given the opportunity to go back in time and change the past. But will Qui Gon be able to save Obi-Wan before the strain of it all becomes his Padawan’s ultimate undoing? 65k

Time Enough by Meridian
Slash/Fix-it. Meridian really hits the mark with this story that has it all -- jealousy, Amidala and Anikin, and a heap of misunderstanding between our favourite Jedi Master and Knight. Six years after TPM, Obi-Wan and Qui Gon finally realize that they’ve allowed a series of miscommunications to keep them apart -- but will it be too late to forgive the past? 61k

Rites of Passage by De Oracle
Slash. My personal favourite ‘virgin sacrifice’ story (of which there are many in this fandom). When Obi-Wan accidently interupts a native custom on a mission...do I really need to finish this summary? De Oracle does a lovely job of capturing both the love between Qui Gon and Obi-Wan, as well as the innocent wonder of Obi-Wan’s ‘first time’. 50k

Iris by Ladyhawke
Slash/Fix-it. Although this one feels a bit rushed, I have to include it here just because it has Wedge Antilles and Corran Horn from the ‘X-Wing’ books. Some time after RotJ, the Force gives Obi-Wan the chance to make things right with the one, true love of his life.

The Grand Dance by Saraid
Slash. Ah, so here is where Saraid has been hiding. I’ve always loved her Sentinel stories, and her TPM stuff is just as awe-inspiring. Something goes incredibly wrong as Obi-Wan and Qui Gon perform a very difficult lightsaber exercise. But sometimes the best rewards come with the price of great pain. As Raonaid pointed out to me, the ‘Grand Dance’ technique that Saraid created here is so beautiful and poignant, it has almost become canon to other TPM writers. 70k

Hand in Glove by Gloriana
Slash/Fix-it. Granted, the characterization is a little atypical for TPM fic, but keep a cool glass of ice water nearby when you read this one! A year after declaring their love for one another, Obi-Wan returns from the Rim and demands to know why Qui Gon still won't consumate their relationship. 34k

Dead Link The Letters series by Lori and Wolfling
Slash/Fix-it. This is a beautiful series of letters written between Qui Gon and Obi-Wan in an alternate universe where the former has survived and the latter has continued on to meet his real-universe destiny of becoming 'General Kenobi'. Touching, loving, and warm enough to melt the coldest heart.

Dead Link Stolen Light by Kassandra
Slash/Fix-it (sort of). Wow! This story is truly one of a kind. Powerful and haunting, a young man struggles not only with his own coming of age, but also with memories that are not his own. Novel length, this story is what ‘AU’s’ are all about. 247k

The Riding the Wheel of If series by Mrs. Hamill
Slash/Fix-it. Talk about the ultimate AU (or should I say AU’s? Following the events on Naboo, Obi-Wan makes himself a new lightsaber. The only catch is that every time it is activated, it sends Obi-Wan into another alternate reality. The variety of the stories is remarakable -- some tragic, some tranquil, some just downright humorous. Fortunately, Mrs. Hamill can keep on going until Obi-Wan meets his goal: finding the reality when *he* died on Naboo, and his Master still lives. Some scrolling is required to reach these stories.

The Apprentice Master by Lilith Sedai, Lorelei, Cori Lannam, and Kate Evans
Slash. With a writing pedigree like this, you know the story has to be good! The tables are turned when Obi-Wan sets out to ‘master’ his Master. Of course, the task might not be as easy as it might seem. Note: this story contains BDSM elements, but it’s not overly graphic for we squeamish-types. 149k
