The typical saiyan has a few thing is comon just like humans. All pur blood saiyans have black hair (this never grows in the whole of thier life at this stage). Their body is very strong and muscular and they have an ability to bear pain that would cripple a human. This gives then a great advange when fighting. (especialy for goku in dragonball) They also have a tail which can help them transform. Wiith such a strong build they ultimately need to eat about 10X more than the average human.

The first transformation........

Super Saiyan

During early Dragonball Z the legendary super saiyan was a major part of the storyline. It was Frieza's worst fear. He was scared that an almighty super saiyan would throw him off his thrown.

Goku was only the second person to reach this greatly sort after level. His anger at frieza killing his best friend fueled his anger to bust into the transformation. On turning super saiyan gokus hair was bleached with his power to a goldern blond. His eyes went green and what could only be described as a fire was egnited around him. To become a super saiyan your soul has to be pure. Pure good or evil. As seen with vegeta.

In early DBZ this level was seen as an honour to reach but later it seemed that any saiyan could reach the level. All the excitement from the legend had somewhat been washed away.

Ultra Super Saiyan

In the android saga there were 3 super saiyans. The almighty super saiyan wasnt strong enough. The Saiyans knew they could surpass the level of super saiyan and become an "assended" saiyan. What they found was a leval between SSJ and SSJ2.

While traning in the hyperbolic time chamber Vegeta and Future Trnks both achived this level. Their muscles greatley increased in size. The saiyan then becomes very strong. There is a draw back to this level as Goku pointed out to Gohan while they were in the hyperbolic time chamber. With extra weight the saiyans speed is drematicly decreased. While the saiayn could kill with one hit they may not be able to make contact.

Super Saiyan 2

This level is First achived by Gohan at the cliimax of the cell games. After Super perfect Cell destroys android 16 Gohan gets engulfed with rage. He finaly manges to releale it to become Super Saiyan 2.

This level looks similar to super saiyan except now the sayain has energy bolts because he has so much power. The hair grows slightly and becomes more streamline.

This level is much superior than the other two. Mainly due to the vast increase in speed and strength. Gohan first shows this whenn he beats the cell jnrs with ease.

Super Saiyan 3

SSJ3 is by far the strongest (normal) level. It is also one of the most reconisealble stages. The saiyans hair increases in length by about a metre and the saiyans eyebrows dissapear.

SSJ3 was only achived by Goku and Gotenks. A saiyan can only achive the level throght hard traning. The only downfall about the level is that its give you great increases in all areas thus it uses more power. When in SSJ3 The saiyan has to defiet the enimy quick otherwise they wont be able to fight
