Tai Chi - Yang StyleThis page has been updated and moved here
I started doing Tai Chi because I needed something that could relax me. Sometimes when the mind just wont shut-up, I've found that Tai Chi focusses my mind solely on my body, and allows all the other things to be shut out. I've also found it good for strengthening the leg muscles (as anyone whos done any Tai Chi will know), and for balance (our instructor, Nick, has found it's helped his surfing in this respect). Also, it is a martial art, albeit a very slow one, and the movements and balance learnt here I believe is transferable to any other martial art.
I started writing down the Tai Chi moves after each lesson as I have a few memory problems and found it difficult to learn otherwise. I decided that these may be useful to other people learning this form, especially those in my class, so I've typed it all up and am putting it all on the net now. I hope it is useful. The only problem is that although I nearly got to the end of Part 3, I have no descriptive notes as yet for this part. This is because at the time I was writing my thesis and don't think I even kept up with writing it all down. I hope to find another teacher soon and will post the rest when I can
Some of you will also be aware of Tai Chi with the sword, the lute, and the fan. Unfortunately, I'm just a beginner and have not learnt any of these yet...but they look great.
