Any Travel Companions or close friends? Nope. Her best friend died of a long suffering illness that could never be diagnosed 10 years ago. This was what drew her to the medical field in the first place.
Distinguishing characteristics: Usually easy going, it takes a lot to set her off. But once she is angry, all hell breaks lose. She says exactly what she is thinking in fits of rage, without regard to others feelings. These episodes are few and fare between though. She has little regard for stupidity or ineptitude in regards to her work.

Personality: somewhat shy and reserved. Kara is not very trusting of others, but very loyal when she does make friends. She is easy going but wicked temper when provoked. She tends to be a bit sarcastic, which some people find a little off putting, something she isn’t really aware of. Deep down, she genuinely likes people and is very lonely. She would really like to have close friends. But that’s something Kara would never admit aloud. She is also a little immature. She really enjoys video games, fantasy, anime and science fiction.

History: Kara was born and raised in an upper middle class neighborhood in Chicago IL. She is an only child. As a child prodigy, Kara finished her last year of medical residency at the age of 20. By this time her childhood best friend and first boyfriend, Devin Carpenter, was well into an undiagnosed illness that eventually killed him (I’m leaving it undiagnosed so that it may eventually turn out to have been something supernatural). This prompted her to go into medical research immediately. But Devin continued to deteriorate and died 6 years later, something she never got over.
As a means of escaping the pain, she threw herself into her work even more so then before. After 10 years and a string of failed relationships, she decided it was time for a change, and accepted a position leading a research team, at a privately funded institute in Connecticut. Packing up all of her belongings, she puts them in storage, and decides to take some time off, before starting her new job. The idea of driving across the United States and visiting places she’s never been suddenly seems very appealing.
Kara is not an alcoholic, but definitely an alcohol abuser. She uses it as a way to escape the pain of her past on occasion, or to deal with bad news.
