Malakai's year is made up of 11 months of 30 days each, plus a 12th month that varies in length. The year begins on the Vernal Equinox (first day of spring). Considering the last month of winter has been known to range in length from three or four days to over a hundred days, it is not surprising the first day of spring is greeted with great joy when first sliver of the white moon of Prime finally rises.
Either the moon's color changes each month, or there are twelve moons that rise and set each year. A month begins when the first crescent of its moon is visible in the sky, and ends when the next month's moon rises.
