Pops was fun last night- I met Jamie there (who I was vaguely afraid was still mad at me), and we walked around the mall. The fireworks lasted for like an hour, and they weren't even all that cool. Anyway, Jamie and I went to see the 10:20 charlie's angels at philips place. I wonder what the gross total is for the amount of money spent either surgically altering them or doing flashy camera tricks to get that barbie effect. internal organs? what? you need those?

Pardon my bitter nature on the subject.

Jamie spent the night, and we were up relatively late just talking about everything. It's so comforting to know that other people agree with you on stuff... Deep or not, it was loads of fun. Jamie went home at 8 to clean out her grandmother's condo (I cannot fathom such a feat of sleep-evasion without shuddering), but I went back to sleep until 12:30. It was beautiful.

I got a back-to-school shopping email from delias this morning... I nearly hyperventilated. If they ever do that again I'm suing.

So today I imagine I'll be honored with the privilege of doing nothing. thank you, shiva!

If I had a dollar for every dollar that Trump has, I would be a very shallow and happy woman.
finally, i'm back to earth!

mom made the striking observation that NYC seems like a foreign country... it makes perfect sense, considering that the only really big cities that either of us has been to recently have been foreign.

i'll try to hit highlights, in case you happen to be interested. i don't blame you if you aren't.

saturday: we flew in, took a cab to our hotel (intercontinental, next to the waldorf=astoria), checked in, that kind of thing. we walked over to h&m on 5th avenue, with which caitlin and i were thoroughly disappointed. the stuff was cheap, but it was also really... random and disorganized. i'm not quite sure how to describe it. so anyway, we went back to the hotel and took a nap. After getting all way-too dressed up, we went to this local place where my cheesesteak was like $25. that wasn't even a nice dinner. the high point of the day was that we went to see mamma mia, which is based on the music of abba (you know, the dancing queen and waterloo people). It was very funny and generally good. yay for saturdays in manhattan.

sunday: i fell asleep in mass at st. patricks. who can blame me? when we left, there were police men out in front of the church wearing all their riot gear, which we later learned was because of a gay pride parade. gay pride parade... catholic church... not a great mix. so we changed at the hotel, then went and tried to get last-minute tickets to the lion king. ian called while we were trying to cross fifth avenue during a break in the parade, but the lesbians' motorcycles drowned out my phone. i think we just looked around times square for a while (not having gotten tickets and all). Caitlin dragged me into the Toys R Us, just so I could see the gigantic barbie house and the indoor ferris wheel. I have to admit, the giant lego empire state building (king kong included, unlike batteries) was pretty damn impressive. for dinner we went to Shelley's I had a really great tuna steak, which is rare because I don't particularly like seafood [oh, dear, i seem to have offended my coastal brethren- sorry :-p]- with that and a salad my tab alone was somewhere around $80. not as bad as it could be, but still pretty damn expensive.

monday: one word: bloomingdales. oh yeah, and central park.

tuesday: I forgot most of the day. oh well. we did go see stomp- very cool, very unique. I had seen the HBO special about a billion times in band when we had substitutes and a lot of stuff was the same, but I was still impressed. not blast, but still worthy of praise.

wednesday: mom and i went to see NYU- nice, but not great. i stopped in a 'quaint' little shop on broadway called yellow rat bastard and got some paul frank flip-flops and pajama pants. yay, julius! in the subway on the way back, i saw a street musician and had the most naive idea ever- wouldn't it be convenient to be a street musician? i mean, you make your own hours and must make at least ten [tax-free] dollars an hour! not to self: obtain musical talent. we looked in saks and FAO schwartz until we had to leave for the airport...

i do hope you appreciated the saga, or at least don't hold it against me that sometimes i'm in the mood to write such boring crap. welcome to the inner-workings of my mind...

that reminds me of a quote, actually, which i'm far too lazy to find. my sister was reading HP and pointed it out, so I'll attempt to recreate it:

...he tried to push it to the back of his mind. Unfortunately, the back of his mind wasn't the secure place it had once been.

New York, New York
I'm alive. I've gotten lots of clothes. I've sat around and missed all you kids. I have seen NYC. I am, however, also paying for timed internet access.

Back Wednesday night.

Oh yeah, just so you know, I'm going to New York. Don't worry, I probably haven't died or anything. See you Wednesday.

if you like pina coladas, and getting caught in the rain...
I've decided there is nothing so rewarding as setting very low expectations and honestly not hoping that they will be exceeded. All of the sudden, everything is going so so so much better than I ever would have guessed.

Pardon the infrequent updates... I've been busy with sleep and harry potter and going to the mall and dying my hair, lol.

I still don't know who dies. Pardon me, I've got to find out.

The fine art of snogging!
I'm about to leave, but Sean's in the shower and I happened to notice an interview with JK Rowling (by Katie Couric) on the MSN website. I found this humorous:

Couric: ?Any snogging with Hermione??Rowling: ?Harry and Hermione! Do you think so??
Couric: ?No I?m kidding. We should probably explain that snogging means kissing.?
Rowling: ?Yeah.?
Couric: ?Lest people think they were shagging!?

Hm. I bet that's just what Harry told her it meant.

The last taste of this oblivion
I've lived in a daze all week... None of my online conversations have made any sense, except for those with Tess. I've played so much GTA vice city that I can't think of any non-80s songs. I took the time to make a new blog, for God's sake. I even commited the mortal sin of letting my hair air-day... every day.

So tomorrow it's back to the land of sweet milk and honey (Charlotte). I imagine I'll grab a copy of HP and read non-stop until I leave again on Sunday for band camp. mmm, the taste of summer!

woop!
hey, im done! that didn't take nearly as long as i thought it would. the drop-down menus are a little messy and hard to figure out, but hell, if you cant gather that the plus brings them down and the dash takes them back up you have issues. lol, eventually ill find something to fill the last three boxes :-P

Anyway, today I literally did nothing. well, I ate and finished this endeavor, plus watched some funny videos on ebaums world. other than that, nadda. harry potter comes out tonight; im gonna have to look back on that fifth-grade version of myself and get my parents to buy it ;-)
