We were all thinking it...

Nike bought Converse. Soon, all all-stars will have a swoosh on them. This is a crime against humanity. I'll have to buy some before they're changed forever...

The Hooray! list lives-
My whole hooray list was on my old blog, so I decided to copy it here and make an addition :-) I took out a few, too, or amended them, but I left them there and struck through them. I dunno, seeing a list of all the things that make me smile majorly improves my mood! Yes, I know, most of them make no sense unless you were in on that particular joke... Seeing as most of you were in on one or two of these, I don't think you'll mind. November 10th: hooray to... anzes, couches, fritos, chocolate, cellos (and basses too, i guess), anything that comes in packages of 56, sleep, easy classes, band, mellos, kool-aid which will forever leave the mello legacy in the girls bathroom, band parties, lack of pants, cute underwear, mittens, chrismas carols (only in december!), DCI + blast, guys (the good ones December 26th: I'd like to add to my "hooray to..." list, which I started on November 10th, hehe. hooray to... cheeky love lobster monkeys, Lord of the Rings, mistletoe :-*, good christmas carols performed by people who can actually sing, the smell of christmas trees, yummy cookies, candles that smell like yummy cookies and whatnot, trips to europe, school years that don't last long, smiley faces, frownie faces when one's mood requires them, suggestive smileys ;-) , imood, family that doesn't require constant attention, free music, brass quintets, christmas presents (only before you open them; after that they're no fun), christmas break, any other breaks, teachers who don't give homework over these breaks which I speak of, people who don't talk in either plural or third person (as if I was saying we can't find our socks or Claire can't find her socks, in reference to me not being able to find my socks), socks which I can find, after Christmas sales, ski trips, trips of any kind without parents, The Sims :-P , stickers that say stuff like "Fantastic Job!" and "Super!", people who know that "tremendous" means "large" and not "of good quality", people who give you free stuff, the free stuff that they give you, those days when everything is in harmony, people who like you despite what others think, those random facts on my subprofile, pretty fonts, that saw at Rupan's house that entertained Stern and Phil so much, doorbells, movies, John Williams (who writes movie music, for those of you who don't know), people who know which way to turn on highway 51, conversations about the universe and religion and fears at three in the morning with seven people all piled onto one bed (this is a big one, worth seven or eight hoorays!), people who bring out the best in me, people who I'm comfortable around (mostly the same ones that bring out the best in me), Christmas, forms to make a unicorn head which can actually be taken out afterward (Jamie....!), pictures of those times you never want to forget, and many more... January 4th: So, I have a few more things to add to my hooray! list... sunbeams, smotable people and elves, lemons (but only if you're into that), weekends, mornings that last until 2 in the afternoon, schoolwork finished long ago, static bumper stickers that don't actually stick, pretty socks, birkenstocks (this is a repeat, but they deserve another hooray!), old songs (the good ones), good remakes of old songs, comfy blankets, a good new york strip steak, fruit smoothies (especially the ones my mom makes), marshmellows (sp?) in fruit salad, ignorance, bliss in general, March 10th: some belated additions to the hooray to! list... um... uh.... aw fuck. I can't think of anything. ooo ooo ooo, the word fuck! lol, i'm not in a bad mood or nothing, its just a great word, with such multifaceted meaning. April 29th: football, half days, spectacular goodbyes (cheesy, i know), snazzy away messages, the word "spifty", SLEEP, the beach, work that you somehow get out of doing, acapella, travel, italy in general, prague, siblings, soft hair :-), hangin out with 25 of your closest friends in a 12x12 room, altered swimsuits, band trips, horn, driving, driving w/o parental supervision, all those... little things, plentiful ass space, an IP paper that's visited a shredder, neon index cards, people who comment on the blog!, blogs in general, wasted time that I enjoyed wasted (which was hence not wasted), blue hair, people's defining features, The Vague Avenger, Captain Obvious, the end of the school year, Italian, not Latin, AIM logs of past, flip-flops, soffees, bad 80's music, Run Lola Run, sorting @ loaves and fishes, comfy t-shirts, people whose smile makes you smile, tazoberry frappuccinos (no whipped cream), cell phones, babysitting (you sit on a couch and get paid, for god's sake), post-it notes, lack of tan lines ;-), those perfect jeans, other people with one leg longer than the other, easybib.com, snowdrop and mittens, chords that make your spine tingle, people with good teeth, days when nothing lets you down, bus rides (for a different reason than the previous entry of 'bus rides' into the hooray list, and NOT pertaining to the OM trip), OM worlds, OM coaches that trust (too much?), planes with personal screens at each seat, getting to fly vs. driving, competent bio teachers (although it might be breaking some rule to enter something that doesn't exist), people who are themselves without worrying about it, moose tracks ice cream, going to bed late and waking up late, orange soda (i believe this is its third hooray!, but it deserves another, along with birkenstocks), and more to come when I feel the urge. Now: summer, lack of braces, relationships that end smoothly, pain killers, late night phone conversations, nights that last until 4 am, playing video games for hours and hours, retainers that don't hurt, chocolate (which i can have now :-P), crest whitestrips, free music, key fobs, lack of humidity, wind, doorknob removal, those little confidence-boosting comments people make, being sure, hearing my phone ring, the underlying meanings in the simple things we say, Texas, internet access when you're away from home, finding out you aren't the only one who feels that way, improving a quick save when you say something stupid (and doing it damn well), people you can be yourself around, deadAIM aliases, aim logs to remember how it used to be, trying to rip your retainer out so you can answer the phone at 1 in the morning, that feeling when you run your tongue across your teeth and nothing gets in the way, broadway musicals, singing along with the mamma mia soundtrack at the top of your lungs, old school white-boy rap, songs that download in 15 seconds flat, people with the same voice range as you, angelfire blogs, changing colors freely, tank tops and jeans, hemp necklaces, really cool toothbrushes, all kinds of gadgets, those friends you've known for years that don't end up moving or switching schools, the ones that do, foreign countries, watching freaky british movies and complaining about it later, waiting for that damn yellow notepad to leave the left side of someone's screename, sunrays and saturdays, all those old nickelodeon game shows we used to love when we were little, boy meets world (before they got married), that sugar hill gang song, low-rise jeans, song lyrics, people you can't figure out but know you don't have to, site counters, back-to-school shopping (minus the back-to-school part), listening to a whole song in the car without mom turning it off to tell you something inconsequential, seperate accounts on win XP, spare computers sitting around the house, when you drop food and don't have to worry about cleaning it up since the dog has already taken care of it, nicknames, being greeted with 'hey sexy' about 40 times since february 11th, meeting new people and immediately clicking with them, those times when you get a lot closer to someone you've drifted away from, inside jokes from months ago, yearbook signatures, decent pictures or yourself, looking in the mirror and not seeing a bunch of metal, pirates of the carribean, johnny depp (sexy and funny as ever), gum and various other braces-forbidden foods, waking up early for the first time in months and suddenly feeling like the day is twice as long, suddenly realizing you get to see 88 of your closest friends when marching band starts again, the idea of taking lots and lots of aleve when marching band starts, pop music with redeeming qualities, those people you can't get out of your mind so you give up and figure they're supposed to be there, knowing exactly what to say, text messages until they add up to eleven dollars a month, having yourself on your buddy list, real live snail-mail letters from cape cod, acapella, and others to be added when I don't want nothing more than to lay on the roof and have a sky of stars to stare at...
If only Stern really were pinned between a car and a wall.
Today has been relatively nice. I woke up and went to the allergist, at which point they injected me with 64 samples of stuff I might be allergic to. Turns out, I'm mad-crazy allergic to milk and dust mites. Ironic. I spent most of my childhood being lactose-intolerant (which is not an allergy thing, by the way), and not wanting to explain all of that to people I just said I was allergic to it. Now that I've been eating dairy stuff for a year, my body's built up the anti-histamines for it and is just waiting for me to have a nice, big glass of milk. Anyway, I went to Kohl's with my mom after that so she could buy a patio umbrella on sale and I got a denim jacket. Fun stuff. Stern called and wanted to do caribou, so I ran into Old Navy and got four tank tops in like three minutes. Stern and I went to Caribou, and Mark met us there a few minutes later- it was cool, we just chilled and talked... Until someone ran into the building with their car yet again. I am not making this up. We were sitting outside and this woman drive right up onto the sidewalk like 15 feet away, taking out a column and slamming into a brick wall. She was driving a rental car, so I wonder if it was the same woman who did it the first time... Anyway, I am too nice so I offered for her to use my cell phone if she needed it. This evolved into me going with her to the car so she could get the number for the rental place, then reading the number since she didnt have her glasses, then leading her in to sit down at caribou, then dialing again, then explaining that it was a fax machine that picked up, then trying the other number, and then finally pretending like I had somewhere to be, lol. I went to my house real quick and grabbed my camera for comical photography purposes (you know, staging pictures where stern is pinned against the wall, that kind of thing) only to find when I got back that the battery was dead. Psh. Stern left then, so Mark came back to my house and we watched TV for a while and talked about movies and old tv shows and stuff- then we decided to go see 28 days later. Bad idea. lol, we walked up to Phillip's Place and got tickets to the Charlie's Angels that started half an hour before 28 days later. After watching the first 35 minutes of CA, we went into 28 days later and watched it. Bad idea. It wasn't soo bad- just gross, weird, artsy, far-fetched, and European. All bad traits. British people scare me, especially the ones who are infected with some kind of crazy virus. I dunno, it was kinda scaryish and thought-provoking. Chilling with Mark was cool though- we talked about people and parents and movies and, of course, the golden age of nickelodeon (who else remembers salute your shorts?) :-D So here's the name of the game: Teresa's gone to camp, Mark's leaving tomorrow, stern left today, Meg's in Orlando, Chris is leaving tuesday, DD is working, Christina's in Prague, Ian's somewhere godforsaken up north, and I haven't really heard from anybody else. I'm stranded!

Why, exactly, do they call them red-letter days?
I have to wear the 'finishing appliance of death' for 5-8 hours everyday, and at night. See, it's funny cause I can't talk with it in. Man, today has been great. I had good luck at the ortho, I got new shoes, I didn't have to argue with any counselors to get my schedule changed, I got tooth whitening stuff, and I get to go to a movie later to top it off :-) Oh yeah, and I can chew gum freely!

"The only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it." - Oscar Wilde (1854-1900) Muaha, a bit of a different slant, eh? And one other: "Maybe this world is another planet's Hell." - Aldous Huxley (1894-1963)

High and Dry
Today has been generally melancholy, although I can't pinpoint a specific reason. Bleh. I'm so paranoid. There's stuff that I enjoy because it's stress-free which I end up getting all anxious about losing- and then it's stressful, and totally pointless. Damn. That made no sense. Time to shower.
Just got back from Pirates of the Carribean- great movie, i recommend that you see it. Multiple times. Hell, it's even worth 6.25! I had remembered a couple of blog-worthy quotes... Oh dear, I forgot them.

Why don't we listen to the beastie boys anymore? My brother's class was all about them. There's nothing like some old-school white-boy rap. lol, in other news... I'm so bored, and I love it. Summer is the best, isn't it? I've been playing games online and singing at the top of my lungs :-D
