Q: I've been playing the games a lot, but I want more Neopoints without so much work. What should I do?
A: I wrote some Free Neopoints Help (Click To View) for you. Check it out, and ask questions if you don't understand!

Q: I read your Neopoints tips, but I want to know how to get good items from the Neopets-run shops. You say to buy items from there in your NP tips, but I don't know how to get the good items.
A: It's really just luck. You can, however, do things that increase your chance to get rare items:
  • Shop at times when fewer people are on, like when most people are at school or sleeping. Remember to be on Pacific, Central, or Eastern (time zones in the USA) because most players live in the USA.
  • Make sure you know the kinds of rare items that specific shop sells. That way, you can buy it without haggling, giving you a better chance to get it.
  • "Camp" the shops. This means that you stay in the shop and REFRESH OFTEN!! This way, you'll be one of the first to see the good item, so you have a better chance at buying it.
  • Carry a lot of np on you (5,000np or more) when you shop. That way, you can buy without having to stop and go to the bank.

    Q: What are good shops to buy from when stocking your shop?
    A: ANY! When you're starting out, try buying from the     Hot Dog shop or the Pizza shop. The reason is because there's a variety of items to choose from in just one shop (it won't be boring), and fewer people are there than the Bakery, Chocolate Shop, and Food shops. Also, you can go to the Shop Wiz and type in Hot Dog or Pizza into the search (make sure to leave "Search Items" as "Containing My Phrase" and not "Identical To My Phrase"). Click Search. When you do, you're taken to a page with a random hot dog type showing (if you typed in Hot Dog in the "Search Items"). Refresh the page and you'll see another hot dog type. Repeat. You can see the names AND market prices for the item. Don't be afraid to go into the shop and see what the item looks like.
    The only shops I DON'T recommend are the weapons shops UNLESS you know the rare weapons to buy. The reason is because the Neopets-run shops sell weapons for REALLY high (I once bought a 35,000np weapon that only sells for 3,000np).

    Q: How do I start a shop? Submitted By     missy_821.
    A: Look towards the top of just about any page on Neopets. There will be a list of icons that go across the screen (if you DON'T see the icons, click on Shops on the side frame). The second one from the left, the one that looks like a house, is your shop. Click on it. Click "Create/Edit A Shop" and follow the directions. You can add HTML into your shop description, but text links are no longer allowed because some people abused them in the past.

    Q: How do I level up and my make my pet stronger?
    A: There are two ways. The first, and most common, is to go to the TRAINING SCHOOL (Explore->Mystery Island-> Training School). You select a pet and a course for it (strength, level, agility, defense, or endurance). This takes you to a new page, listing all your pets. You'll see a codestone next to the pet you just put on a course. Copy the name of the codestone and go to the shop wizard. Paste the name in and click "search." Codestones cost a few thousand NP each. Go back to the Training School and click the button under the codestone name. Come back in a few hours and click the button next to your pet (no button? Check back in another few hours). That's it.
    The second way is what I recommend: Go to Coltzan's Shrine (Explore->Lost Desert->Coltzan's Shrine). You can visit only once a day, and Coltzan doesn't always help your pet (you might get more neopoints, food, or even nothing), but a good deal of the time you'll get a message like "(pet name) feels faster!" or "(pet name) has gained a level!" I've done this with     Leichehalle and am doing this with SuperPockyGirl and they're doing pretty well for not spending any neopoints to help them!

    Q:How do I battle my pet? Submitted By     missy_821.
    A:You can either challege a pet (go to a pet's look-up and scroll down to "Click here to challenge (pet name) in the BATTLEDOME!") or you can do a 1-player fight. For those, go to the Battledome and click One Player Battledome (at the bottom on the right). Make sure your pet is equipped with battle items AND a healing elixir (elixirs can be taken in the Battledome, potions cannot). Test out different weapons to see what you like best!

    Q:How do petpets gain levels? Submitted by     hopesstarlight.
    A:Petpets CAN actually gain levels, and there are two ways to do this. You can visit Turmaculus, a giant petpet located in Meridell. Your pet tries to wake him up. If successful, you can gain a level. The other way, which is more reliable, is to actually BATTLE your petpets. Go to the games room, then select action games. Scroll to PetPet Battles (they're in alphabetical order) and follow the directions. It's fun, but repeptive.

    Q:What is the     Stock Market and how do I use it?
    A: Neopian stocks are fun if you like dealing with money...and can also afford to lose Neopoints (as in real life, Neopian stocks are NOT predictable). All you do is view the list of Neopian stocks (click Find Stocks), then pick one or more. When you buy shares of a stock, you spend the current cost per share (if the cost is 6np, then one share is 6np. You can't put any more, unless you buy more shares, and you can't put any less. It has to be exactly 6np, or a number divisible by six). Check back daily to see if your stock(s), kept in your portfolio, have raised or dropped. For example, if you bought five shares at 10np per share and you see that they're 15np per share the next day, feel free to sell your shares (in this case, you'd make 25np profit). You can buy as many shares as you want, but make sure to SELL when the share prices go up. Buy low, sell high! If you find that your share has gone DOWN and it continues to go down (or just stays at the new low price), sell your shares because they probably won't go up for a while and you could just lose more np.

    Q: I've seen people posting things on the chat boards that say something like "THIS REALLY WORKS!! Post this on 10 different boards and you'll go to your inventory and find a baby PB!!" DOES this work?
    A: No, those NEVER work. I've seen some that have said "Approved by Neopets staff" in there...trust me, they aren't! The Neopets staff will never approve anything like that because what those people are doing is spamming (filling up the message boards with the same message). That's against Neopets rules. The only thing that you'll find is a message from the Neopets Staff in your inbox telling you that you've been warned for spamming...not what you want!

    Q: How do I do a Brain Tree quest?
    A: After getting the questions from the     Brain Tree, you need to go to the Esophagor (they're located right near each other in the Haunted Woods). You do the Esophagor quests (don't worry, you can use the shop wiz). Last I checked, you'll need to find *two* items for each question the Brain Tree asks you. Once you get the info, go back to the Brain Tree and type it in EXACTLY as you saw it.

    Q: Should I do     Jhudora's or Illusen's quest?
    A: Whichever you want, actually, but you can't do both unless you wait a couple days between them (you'd normally wait a day before being allowed to do another quest). Once you reach Level 20 for either faerie's quest, you get an avatar of that faerie that you can use for your chat avatar (I really like my Jhudora avatar ^_^)!

    Q: Where can I get a paint brush? Submitted By     missy_821.
    A: Paint brushes occur as random events. You are able to buy the Baby and Darigan paint brushes from the Hidden Tower, but they're not cheap (well, maybe compared to the other Hidden Tower prices).

    Q:What's an avatar and where can I get one? Submitted By     missy_821.
    A: An avatar is only seen in your posts in the chat room. It's a small picture that appears under your name in every post that you make. To change/set your avatar, go to Chat Preferences (Chat->Chat Preferences) and choose an avatar. There are special avatars that you can get if you go to the avatar link that I've put on every page on this site.

    Q:How can I join or leave a guild? Submitted By     geeselouise.
    A: First, find a guild that you'd like to join (check out the Guild Chat in the list of chat rooms). Second, scroll to the very bottom of the guild's page and click Join Guild. If you want to leave, go to the same place and you'll see Leave Guild where Join Guild used to be. This only works if you DID NOT start the guild. If you make a guild, you're automatically in it. To leave the guild, you actually have to delete it (not good if you have a lot of members). To delete a guild, go to your guild's main page and scroll to the bottom and click Delete Guild (it's in the same place Join/Leave Guild would be).

    Q: What is Neopian Standard Time (NST) and how can I make it my time? Submitted By     geeselouise.
    A: NST is actually just Pacific Standard Time, so for those of you that live on the west coast of the USA, it's the exact same time you're on (the Neopets staff live in Glendale, CA, so that's probably why it's on Pacific Standard). Now that you know that, adjust accordingly. If you're not sure, go to a website where you can find that out (check out www.timeanddate.com's world clock).

    A: The Advent Calendar is only effective during December. You visit once a day from December 1st to December 25th (Christmas) and you get a special item. It's located on Terror Mountain.

    Q: How do I make my Neopet a baby? Submitted By     geeselouise.
    A: You have to buy a Baby paint brush. They're about 600,000np and you can pick them up in the Hidden Tower or in the Trading Post.

    Q:Where is the Hidden Tower? Submitted by     darker_descendants.
    A:Well, it's a Hidden Tower for a reason! But if you MUST know: go to the map of Neopia (just click Explore). Click on Faerieland. Click on Faerie City. In the very back, there's a big, purple castle. Right next to the tower on the left is the Hidden Tower. Just move your mouse over it and the arrow will turn to a hand (or whatever you have your computer settings turned to). Keep in mind that the Hidden Tower is VERY expensive, so don't plan on buying anything there if you can't afford to loose a few MILLION Neopoints!!
