A human cursed with draining the life essence of others to survive, he was transformed into the creature Sauron after attempting to drain the energe of the X-Factor's Havok.
Sauron was reborn in X-Force #6 when the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants forced him to drain the lifeforce of his girlfriend, causing Sauron to be reborn. In X-Force #7, he clashes with X-Force. Shatterstar was the first to attack Sauron. He manages to get a good cut at Sauron before bailing to the ground. In the end, it took a combined effort of him, then Feral, then Cable to disable Sauron.
