This series is about a young delinquent who falls in love with a girl; unfortunately, she is in love with a basketball star.  So, he decides to take up basketball to win her affection, but runs afowl of the captain of the team, her brother.  Knowing nothing of basketball, he must learn the basics, keep from fighting, and help his team achieve their goal of winning Nationals.

Comments:  The animation is not my favourite style and it not exactly a riveting anime.  But, it is alot of fun to watch and I definitely recommend it, even if you know nothing of basketball.

Shaman King

This series is about a young shaman who dreams of becoming the Shaman King and control the greatest spirit of them all.  With his spirit Amidamaru, Yoh fights against other shamans in the Shaman Fight to decide who will be the next Shaman King.

Comments: I love this anime; it's funny, great art work, but it has its serious side and interesting story lines.  It's got it all!  If you don't take my advice for anything, at least take this advice.  WATCH

Spirited Away

This movie is about a young girl who is transported to a mysterious land and must survive there and rescue her enchanted parents... what else do you want?

Comments:  Disney did a better job with this one than Princess Mononoke but the subtitled version is still better.  Luckily, the dvd release has both versions.

Sailor Moon, R, S, SS, Star (Japanese)

This series is about five young girls who are the reincarnated warriors of the moon who must defend Earth from the Negaverse and other monsters who want to steal Earth's energy.  The first four series are translated into English, SS Star never made it over.

Comments:  I'm not a huge fan of Sailor Moon subtitled, the dubbed version just annoys the hell out of me.  But, it is strangely addictive so I caution those you want to watch this series.  Good luck trying to find the Star series, I haven't had any luck myself.  The manga I found much more enjoyable (no irritating voices).
