This series is about a young boy who is chosen to pilot a giant robot to defend the world from aliens known as Angels.  The boy, however, does not want to pilot the Evangelion and is a rather depressed figure.

Comments: The series is really good except for the original ending, which made NO SENSE!  Luckily, they came out with two movies that are the last four episodes with additional scenes so it makes more sense. 

Escaflowne

This series is about a young girl who gets transported to another world where there are monsters and giant robot-like machines (sound familiar?).  She meets up with this boy whose kingdom has been destroy and joins in the battle against an emperor whose attacking other kingdoms.

Comments: An excellent series, but if you watch the movie watch it first because compared to the series it sucks.  The storyline is quite complete and the music is incredible.  One of the best soundtracks around.  Definitely recommended.
