chapter 5:
[Todd is silent...for several minutes.]
Tea: If you can't tell me why you came, you need to leave.
Todd: You know I'm not good at words. Why are you doing this to me?
Tea: From now on, if you're going to play games with me, I'd like to know what they are from the beginning.
Todd: I'm not playing any games. I'm being straight with you.
Tea: You pretended that Viki needed my legal services, when you really came here for personal reasons, that you refuse to divulge to me.
Todd: Divulge? Okay, I'll divulge to you. Take your clothes off, I'll divulge my bulge to you.
Tea: Leave! Right now!
[Todd smoothes his hands over his hair, surprised himself with what came out of his mouth.]
Todd: You're doing that thing you always do. You're confusing me on purpose.
Tea: I'm not doing anything, except wasting time that I should be spending to prepare for court tomorrow.
Todd: You can use me.
Tea: For what, exactly?
Todd: Get your mind out of the gutter.
Tea: You're the one who put my mind in the gutter with your crass comment. I certainly wasn't thinking anything of the sort before you so blatantly made your intentions known.
Todd: I don't intend anything. I'm just trying to get through the day.
Tea: Luckily for you, the day's almost over. I, however, need to get back to work so I can finish here and go home. It would be nice if I could get a few hours of sleep before I have to be at the courthouse.
Todd: I'll help you.
Tea: The help you have in mind...
Todd: You don't know what's on my mind.
Tea: You made yourself very clear. Now, allow me to make myself clear. I'm in a relationship.
Todd: So?
Tea: So, I don't take that lightly.
Todd: Since when?
Tea: You are in no position to judge me. What you did was far worse than anything I may have done.
Todd: You cheated on me.
Tea: We had a business arrangement, not a real marriage. You made certain that I understood that every moment of every day.
Todd: You knew how I felt about you.
Tea: I never knew. I still don't know. I do, however, know that while you were having sex with me on that island, you were a married man, involved in a real marriage, not a business arrangement.
Todd: Technically, Blair had divorced me by then.
Tea: You didn't know that.
Todd: I had a feeling.
Tea: Is that why you rushed off on that raft, risking your life? Because, you had a feeling you were losing the woman you loved?
Todd: The woman I loved...
[Todd stops himself from declaring Tea as the woman he loved, loves and will always love.]
Todd: None of this matters. That's not why I came.
Tea: Why did you come? Tell me so we can both move on with our lives...separately.
Todd: I needed to talk to you.
Tea: About what?
Todd: Stuff.
Tea: Like...?
Todd: Like, just stuff.
Tea: If you can't tell me...
Todd: You're the only person I can tell...maybe.
Tea: What is this about? Put aside sarcasm, sexual innuendo, and anything else that will get in the way. Tell me whatever it is that has you so desperate you needed to return to my life.
Todd: I wanted to talk to you before. I knew you got off that island. I knew you were okay. I also knew you'd never want to speak to me again.
Tea: Obviously, you were wrong.
Todd: Was I?
Tea: I'll admit, right after I returned, I probably wouldn't have been very receptive toward you.
Todd: What about now? What if I tell you that I need you? What if I tell you that I missed you? Would you give me another chance?
