The Nebraska Cornhuskers are a phenomenon which continues to amaze the writers and fans of sports. Interest centers on the football team. The 30,000+ red-clad Husker fans who managed to get into the Nebraska-Notre Dame game, in South Bend is just the lastest example of how well these fans travel and what they can accomplish. Nebraska received the regular allotment of 4,000 tickets. The rest of those in the stadium got there on their own. Amazing.

The University of Nebraska Athletic program is more than the football team. Nebraska fields teams in over 20 different sports. The Huskers finished sixth in the competition for the Sears Directors' Cup for 1999-2000 and top in the Big 12. The Cup recognizes the top overall Division 1 collegiate athletic programs based on finishes in all sanctioned sports.

The Nebraska Alumni Association is very active in carrying the message of the University throughout the country. I contribute to the web site for the Sacramento Alumni Chapter, the Northern Californians for Nebraska.
