Benz G/Puch G
The G - a synonym for outstanding
quality among luxury-class off-road vehicles - is the sophisticated co-product
of Daimler Benz and SFT, Daimler Benz providing the engine, axles, transmission
and steering gear, Steyr-Daimler-Puch manufacturing the frame, the body
and the transfer case. The G is assembled and painted in Graz. Since start
of production, approximately 140.
For
civilian and military application
The G is not only a renowned
high-performance product for civilian purposes, but also the best-selling
military vehicle of its category in Europe. The UNO uses the G worldwide
for peace-keeping missions.

Sales/Marketing
Puch G and Mercedes G are identical. Due to the marketing/sales agreement
of the two partners, however, there are two brand names: in Austria, Switzerland,
Liechtenstein, Slovenia, Croatia, Yugoslavia, Macedonia, Bosnia/Herzegovina
and Great Britain (model type 461) it is marketed as Puch G, in all other
countries it is marketed as Mercedes G.
