Sunny and warm. Gorgeous day.
A mostly good day! When I woke up first this morning I hardly coughed at all. I mean I coughed, but in comparison to 4 days ago, it wasn't bad. I didn't feel like I was going to die on my next breath.
I got up a bit later than I was supposed to (oops), showered, and internetted (Hey, is that a word??). I cooked my lunch, then finished up the novel that I've been reading. It was The Husband by Dean Koontz, and I have to say I was terribly disappointed with it. Just didn't do very much for me.
I left for work on time and got there handily. I gave the place a good once over with my slidy broom thing (not a broom, it has a cloth on the bottom that collects the dust). I'm always shocked at how much dust there is afterwards. I clean it almost every day. I changed and did last minute stuff for my first student.
So, how did today's classes go? Overall, quite well. However, my new student had taken it upon herself to do today's lesson at home. By herself. And the homework too. Argh! I made sure that she knows from now on NOT to do that again. And we went over it in class anyway. I could have gone on, but this is a new student, her speaking isn't great, and she really needs the speaking practice. So, we went through it in class. We went through it fairly fast, so it wasn't boring, but I wanted to make sure that she had the right answers and knew what she was saying. At the end of class today she was surprised that time had passed so quickly, so she seemed to be happy. The child's class was almost okay. He got the phrases, but he has terrible pronunciation. I'm not sure if it's a case of him not hearing the correct sounds...they're different than Japanese sounds after all, or him just not caring. Probably a bit of both! His behaviour was mostly okay, with a few blips! My last class was great. We did a vocab exercise that was quite challenging for her, and she seemed to like it. We'll finish it up next week.
I had a big break in the middle of the day, so I went out. First I hit the drugstore for sweetener and then a restaurant for a quick meal. It was really nice to get out of the school for a change.
Fumihiko picked me up after work and took me out for dinner. He was supposed to cook tonight, but had a headache so he begged off. He'd been quite busy since he finished work. He had to go over and help his Mum at his house. He walked the dog and made arrangements to take her out tomorrow. She's got a bad knee at the moment. His mum, not the dog.
We came home and watched Greys Anatomy from last weekend. (Spoiler alert) It was good, and sad. I cried at the end. A pregnant woman and her family had been hit by a car. The car was driven by an intern at another hospital. He was so tired that he fell asleep. The scene where I cried was when the intern apologized to the father of the woman. It was really well done. Chris O'Donnell was in it again, and yowza. Yummy! Except I don't like the mustache.
That's about it for today. I'm sitting here at my computer, sipping a Diet A&W root beer. It's the last can of our old shipment. There was something wrong with the case I felt. It just doesn't have enough fizz. Hopefully the new case will be okay.
