Rainy and windy. Bad weather day.
I had a bad night last night. I did sleep, but woke up quite often. The gunk problem with my eyes was one reason, but so was coughing and needing to blow my nose. One of the times when Fumihiko was awake at the same time as me, I asked him to take me to see a doctor today. When I finally woke up for good around 9:15, we talked about it again. I didn't want to teach today. I like these kids, and I didn't want to spread around what I had. So, we contacted the families and said there wouldn't be any lessons. Then, we went to the doctor's office.
I was given a thermometer right away and told to put it under my arm. Hubby and I walked off to a quiet corner and I started to put the thermometer there. However, I noticed a middle aged guy watching me intently. I don't know if he was staring at me because I'm a foreigner or because he thought he might get a flash of something, but I turned away, and put the thermometer under my arm.
When we got to see the doctor he looked me over, told me it wasn't flu and then sent me off with some medicine. However, he didn't give me anything for my eye. I was a bit surprised.
We went to M's Dining to have brunch and then came home. After a quick email check, I went to bed. I was needing more sleep. I slept most of the afternoon. I woke up a few times, and made the happy discovery that my other eye now has gunk too. Basically I think I have conjunctivitis. Blech. I have to be really careful not to pass that on to anyone else.
I got up around 5, did some stuff on my computer and then discussed with Fumihiko about whether to go to the party tonight. We decided to, but to leave early. We had talked about riding bikes there earlier, but the weather was really yucky, so decided to drive. Hubby promised not to drink.
We went, and were the first ones there. The other people came fairly quickly after that, and then we had a great old time. We ate and drank a lot. The guest of honor, a friend from New Zealand, is a vegetarian, so we had a lot of veggie dishes. Most of the guests didn't drink because they were driving or not feeling well, so it was a quiet party. Lots of good conversations in English and Japanese.
We left around 9:30 and came home. We spent a quiet evening at home. I watched the CSI shows, and then let the VCR catch Grey's Anatomy. Fumihiko made us some chawanmushi. It was great, but the last couple of mouthfuls were gritty.
And that's about it for me. I have to get to bed soon. It feels like I've got sand behind my eyelids, not a pleasant feeling at all. I'm also quite tired. I still cough quite a lot and my nose is running too. I just feel blah. When oh when will I get better? I thought I was doing okay on Wednesday and Thursday, but yesterday I must have relapsed. Sigh.
Anyway, I have to go. I'm really tired now. (side effect of the medicine, btw) Night night!
