Desert Meditation

A Mystical Path

Day Two

Death Valley

Morning

The eastern Panamints just after sunrise, viewed from the hill overlooking Texas Springs campground. See how sun and shadow change the landscape.
Zabriski Point, after a bitterly cold December sunrise. Manly Beacon juts high beside Red Cathedral. Too many people congregate here, but visit it anyway.
Twenty Mule Team Canyon is just down the road. Leave the dirt road and learn about erosion and solitude by following a gully uphill. Few people explore these areas.
Skeletons of Desert Gold color the alluvial fans.
Mushroom Rock, for your contemplation of the forces of nature.
A more permanent resident. Always lay a colorful rock on this grave. Look around to see what his last view was.
More sights around the valley
Death Valley at Noon:
As you drive and hike further into the recesses of the valley, the Noon-Day sun bakes.

Back to the beginning.
