Desert Meditation

A Mystical Path

Death Valley at High Noon

The open road is full of possibilities. Heading south toward Badwater.
I’m resting on salt pans at the Devil’s Golf Course. I never liked golf, anyway.
Natural arch.
Striped Butte in Butte Valley (Warm Springs Canyon). To get here you must pass over a wilderness of rocks packed by wind, called desert pavement. They are weather-blackened rocks, a phenomena called desert varnish.
Grandstand (rocks) in the Racetrack dry lake bed.
Bleaching bones of Rhyolite ghost town. Is the lesson impermanence, greed, or something else?
Look here for more pictures of the Rhyolite Bottle House and the racetrack areas.
You continue to explore the valley as the late afternoon sun begins to slant towards the west.

Back to the beginning.
